I don't even disagree with serghei on this post. Funny how you instantly put me in a category instead of taking my arguments for what they are.

    Arthur

Ok. Agree to disagree. But pay more attention to the distances Arthur keeps to his teammates, especially Busquets. Sometimes he even dribbles past them or in their direction when he has the ball instead of just passing the ball to them. It's like he doesn't see them.

Our mids are rarely in good positions and the solution to that is playing Arthur who is even worse at that??

    Arthur

lmao so you agree with me that what Arthur does is not beneficial for the team?
  6. G

    Arthur

Why receive the ball when it is not beneficial for your team? And no, I'm all for off the ball movement but more like in guardiola teams where the players move in tandem with each other.

    Arthur

That's simply wrong. If you are in a good position don't leave it, except when you know someone else will take it up. Also, it's not hard to be better in possession than Vidal. Doesn't make you good at it either.

What's the point in useless, sometimes even detrimental movement?
  9. G

    Arthur

Xavi is a great example because his movement is the complete opposite of Arthurs. Xavi used to constantly look for spaces inside the opponents formation without getting too close to his teammates. Arthur mostly moves around the opponents formation while often taking up his teammates spaces. You...

Thats exacty the misconception i am talking about. Arthur is not great at progressing the ball because of the reasons i named. And even though Vidal is not better with the ball at his feet, he helps more in posession because of his movement which opens up space for Messi.

How is Arthur entering Busquets and Rakitic spaces a good thing and how does that create new passing lanes?

    6 - Carles Alena

He wasn't worse than in other games, it just "looked different".
  13. G

    Arthur

I must be blind then. Moving more is not always a good thing, in fact it is often detrimental when not done in tandem with your teammates.
  14. G

    Arthur

Which of the things that I said are wrong?
  15. G

    Arthur

He isn't. His positioning is usually detrimental to the progression of the ball since he often stays too close to his teammates. This actually makes it easier for the opponent to press us. Also, he barely takes up more advanced positions and when he does, it's not in spaces where he can receive...

    Arthur

People who consider him a modern, "controlling", "Cruyffista" type player have no idea about football

    Jean-Clair Todibo

    great game

    Mavericky Puig

I find it so cool that this 19 year old kid is our only midfielder who realizes that the structure of our flat 3 man midfield is bad for progressing the ball and usually positions himself a bit higher up the field.

    Matthijs de Ligt

He's very similar to Pique in a lot of things, mainly his build up play. They are both very strategic in their approach. So, the transition from Pique to De Ligt would be very smooth.
