He was almost the coach, before Pep was appointed. Infact he was spotted at the Camp Nou watching the team play many times during FR final year. Many board members wanted him, SPORT and EMD even leaked out his wish list of players, should he become our manager, etc. Thank God it never happened.
Mou would jump at the chance to manage Barca. He has an unhealthy obsession with Barca. Plus, the fact he said he envied Van Gaal's CV...never going to happen, don't want him.
Like any WC manager is going to come, when we can't even buy players next summer. we're stuck with Lucho until 2016. He will be gone when new pres/board come in.
I believe Kroos agent was shopping Toni around to different clubs. And according credible sources Kroos was very interested in coming to Barca. That's what's out there. Then Lucho/staff said no.
I'm giving him atleast until the PSG game. That will tell if he learned from the first game mistakes. If he fails there again, then I'm afraid he's not the right man for the job. I don't care if we can beat the minnows of La Liga.
Of course Barca are not in ruins and is still elite. But, it's not 2011. Do you think Barca right now, can beat the likes of Bayern away or Chelsea away? I don't. And when was the last time Barca really beat an elite team?
Thing is, Ancelotti is a manager with major pedigree. Madrid fans were always going to give him time, for his team to gel. Lucho doesn't have that pedigree, where he earned the fans his trust. So, saying Lucho will turn it around like Carlo did is not exactly a good example.
Forget the next Clasico. Let's see if he can beat PSG at home, get us to finish first in the group stages. Thats the next big test, see if he learned anything from the first game.
