To be honest it's just a hunch but he wouldn't be too costly because he is on the last year of his contract and he is the fits the model of player that Valverde likes, physical and able to score. Too bad he can't stay healthy, would be a great player if he could.

If Valverde still wants a midfielder and Barca board is planning on bringing one it's probably Aaron Ramsey.

I never stated he wasn't a good CB and I said I don't trust Vermaelen to replace Umtiti for a full season, don't know what you are arguing.

No, hence my comment about tons of other promising centre-backs. But the fact of the matter is that while Umtiti was injured, Vermaelen replaced him with great success. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect Vermaelen to fill Umtiti's place for a full season but it's not like Barca would be sitting...

Dunno man, Umtiti at his best is a great defender but he has been falling asleep mid-game recently, weird misplaced passes and such. Pique has been a warrior this season and he is playing with a small injury too.

I think you misunderstood FCBfan22's post. It's not like Barca missed Umtiti when he was injured. He is good no doubt about that but him leaving wouldn't hurt the club that much with Valverde as a manager.

Who is blaming him? If he wants to go to United he is free to do so. Of course it's a shitty thing for the club but there are tons of other promising CB targets at the moment.

If Umtiti leaves, Barca should go for Milan Skriniar, he will probably end up as the better centre-back in the future.

It is probably a negotiating tactic but it's weird that he is asking for a salary like that after only 2 years at the club and he is at his first contract here. He can go get his 9m Euros at United if he wants it that much.
