In 2012 Mundo Deportivo said that Barcelona made a 10 M bid for him but in the end it were just rumours. He also had offers from Ac Milan , As Roma , Atletico Madrid and other great teams but so far Steaua didn't accept the transfer fee other teams were willing to make.
At the end of July , Chiricheș was set to join Tottenham Hotspur for a reported €8 million (£6.94 million) fee after the English Premier League side battled Roma for him but Steaua rejected the offer next day after Spurs didn't agree the player to play the Champions League play-off with his team.

And he has already played the CL qualifier for his parent club... So he would be cup-tied and our last transfer for a player in such a situation left us bitter taste in mouth!!

But the fact that AvB was so seriously interested in the player... And our own invitation just a year ago give some promising feedback about the player. Also, he seemed to have had a good Europa League last year, going by different reviews. May be we could take the risk if the fee was not too high

He would have been a great choice for Barca if the club wanted to transfer 2 CB's this summer. He is not good enough yet to play in the first 11 for a team like Barca but he is a very good prospect.

I was thinking more like a world class CB like Thiago Silva , Hummels or David Luiz and a CB that has great potential to become world class in the close future like Vlad Chiriches .... but these are only dreams :p

He went tot Tottenham for 8,5 M , really great transfer for them. With the money they get for Bale , they're going to make a beast team :worthy:

Another cheap defender we missed out on. Him and that Belgian kid Alderweireld we could of got for cheap. Instead we stuck to hoping Adriano is healthy enough to play CB again.

Alderweireld isn't good enough for us. Just because we need a defender doesn't mean that just anyone will do. Replacing one problem with another won't get us anywhere.

He is a really good player, his last EL season was really good, scored a lot of great goals for the team, even if he was a CB
