Started thinking less of him since few weeks. Have feeling he doesn't work on his weaknesses. He is at a good level but will not reach greatness.
He is only winning us games because Real and Atletico can still drop points so still not enough riding on one individual game for him to @(#* up.
Next disasterclass will be against Atletico. That game will be important enough.

He's probably the most broken player in the squad, after all those humiliations.

He's too frightened. He hasn't tested his boundaries to develop experience of when to do certain things. He never comes out for corners so he doesn't know which ones he can actually come out for. He rarely closes down an advancing attacker so he doesn't know at what point he should be doing those things. He's so scared of conceding he just stands there hoping he doesn't get into these situations.

Yup. He's mentally done after picking the ball out of the net so many times. 8-2 was the final nail I think.

He'll probably be back to bossing it vs Eibar and Huesca soon enough, but I don't know if he's ever going to perform in big games again. Mental scarring is just too strong.

I don't think it's that.

ter Stegen is a really smart guy, but when it comes to his own football abilities he's very arrogant. He's probably thought he's much better than he actually is which is why we've yet to see him improve the last few years. Keeping the same GK coach who probably doesn't hold him accountable is problematic too. No wonder MAtS doesn't want him gone.

I do believe he genuinely want the team to improve and win and that he cares a lot about Barca, but he need someone new to challenge him. Whether it's at the GK position or the position coach itself. Something need to be done. It's not for a lack of talent, but a lack of development.

I sort of agree with this when I think about it more. He had a magical first season at the club, winning the treble and making some insane stops like the one vs Lewandowski in CL semis. That first season probably really got to his head and he was still a kid (in GK years) at 23 years old.

On the other hand, he had a very solid 18/19 season and was arguably our best performer after Messi.

Said it before but his distribution is shocking at times. I reckon guys at Barca would say “yeah but who would you replace him with, we need a ball playing keeper”.... but all he can do is the simple short passes at the back with the CBs. Ederson is a proper ball playing keeper. Any sort of ball over top or wide to fullbacks he usually fucks up and even more so when it’s a high pressure game. Can literally see the terror on his face. Would love to see a compilation of that Bayern 8-2 game because he was one of the main culprits, every ball straight back to Bayern in dangerous places. Let’s get Navas :boss:

Navas apparently just got his contract extended. Ter-Espresso until 2025 lads.

I wouldn't mind replacing him if we can find an upgrade, but would you guys be willing to make Donnarumma the by far highest paid GK in the World and pay Mino Raiola a massive bonus too?

This is Barcelona right now:

We need to look at our priorities first.

That doesn't explain how we looks so nervous in any big match.
