He earns just about 6 mio, thats very low (if this is correct) for a GK with his international standing.
I also think there are better options but not for this salary. Pena isn‘t as good as MATS even if he is not bad

I care more about his performance on the pitch. If he's a 2nd choice GK, great, but he won't accept that.

ter Stegen will leave if they tell him he'll have to fight for his place vs. Tek and Pena if they continue performing reasonably well the rest of the season.

We need to get rid of the curse , and only way of doing so , was to get rid of all the starting players in the Roma and Liverpool disasters.
