1 - Victor Valdes

I didn´t suggest to replace Valdes, I am just looking for future replacement because Valdes is not getting any younger ya know
and I am not sure if someone from La Masia can inherit his place (hope I am wrong) and it would be ideal to get young goalie so he can still learn from Valdes and at some point in 3-4 years shift the number ones

The difference between Valdes and the other WC GKs are his number of mistakes. He has as many vital saves, but his number of mistakes is way more than the others, specially THIS season. That's why he was never considered among the best GKs in the world. Other GKs make mistakes too, but Valdes mistakes are kinda amateurish for a World Class level. His childish attempts in clearing the ball led to goals in 1-3 win against Real and 3-2 lose again Osasuna. His poor attempt in punching a simple ball led to the penalty in 1-2 win against Levante. He was also partly to blame for the goals Barca conceded against Chelsea and Real recently (except the Torres goal) and some of the other matches as well.

There is no need to sell or replace him. He just needs to use his brain more and be as concentrated as before. Speaking of the defence and midfield being responsible for Valdes mistakes is rubbish too.

The way he ran rashly toward Pique resulting in Pique getting knocked out sums up his season well: hasty and unfocussed.

He also gets caught out at the near post a lot.

Boatang and Van Persie both managed to score through like a 0.5m gap between him and the post. In my opinion a decent goalkeeper should be able to save those.

CL finals 2006 and 2009. :che:
People will want to believe what they want to believe. It's like if you tell them that Victor Valdes holds the all-time record in Spain for most minutes without conceding a goal, they'll say well that's because of the possession game Barça plays.

Then to counter that you might say, well let's take a look at direct shots on goal a few years back with Spain's best keepers. How did they fair?

1. VV - 112 shots fired at him and saved 91 (81.3%)
2. Iker - 82 shots fired at him and saved 65 (79.3%)
3. DeGea - 163 shots fired at him and saved 124 (76.1%)

Can't get any more cut and dry than that right??? No. They'll just say, well.... well... it's because those shots were easy shots. They weren't point blank range like Iker's saves...

... and so you see, Deco 20, they'll never get it. They'll always find an excuse to point fingers. If it isn't one of our players, it's the next.

He clearly has had a poor streak, like Messi, our best player ever and others like Iniesta and Xavi,,, etc, yet they are exempt from the blame that some other lower profile players like Victor get.

Oh well. That's the way it goes.

It can.

Leverkusen - Barcelona: 4 shots on target, 1 goal conceded
Barcelona - Leverkusen: 1 shot on target, 1 goal conceded
Milan - Barcelona: 3 shots on target, 0 goals conceded
Barcelona - Milan: 1 shot on target, 1 goal conceded
Chelsea - Barca: 1 shot on target, 1 goal conceded
Barca - Chelsea: 3 shots on target, 2 goals conceded

So overall in the knockout rounds of this year's Champions League campain Valdes has conceded 6 goals from 13 shots on target. But the most amazing thing while searching up those statistics is: how did Leverkusen manage 5 shots on target, more than Milan and Chelsea? :troll:

Edit:

Hilarious. From last season:

Barcelona - Manchester United: 1 shot on target, 1 goal conceded
Barcelona - Real Madrid: 1 shot on target, 1 goal conceded
Barcelona - Shakhtar Donetsk: 1 shot on target, 1 goal conceded
Barcelona - Arsenal: 0 shots on target, 1 goal conceded

:worthy: :valdes:

I assume you are not Valdes' lover and am subsequently bemused at your radical defense of this turdshit.

Fuck your statistics. God has bestowed unto you eyesight and reason.

Valdes is a piece of shit goalkeeper and the single most responsible person for our losses against Madird and Chelsea. I sincerely believe that Casillas or Cech or any other good goalkeeper would've saved all of the goals we conceded last week (except for Khedira's goal, that was Puyol funkiness). The most amateurish of all was Ramires' goal. What a fucking piece of shit. He also looks like a porn star and acts like a bad boy. He's an all-rounder type of dickhead.

Some of the people here defend these players as if it is a duty to do so. Defending a shitty homegrown player means I'm a loyal fan, yay!

You deserve to be impaled with Valdes.

i just want to hit some guys in the head so hard....

i've always said that the cules are the worst fanboys today. too spoiled with the current succsess in recent years. can't even back their own players when most needed. i mean i don't like premier league but one thing barca fanbois should really learn from them is how to back your own team. if torres was our player he would be dead already but chelsea fans still belive in him although he is a piece of shit. arsenal still belives that they can do something although the reality is nowhere near it.

under pep era, valdes has been one of our best and most consistent performers. i just feel sorry for those guys who can't understand his role. they are probably those guys as well who thinks that he could do just as well in the goal as valdes because the team keeps the ball and he has nothing to do there, that they can be barca's coach because they have all the players and the coach has nothing to do etc.

to understand victor's game, sit on a bench, just wait there for 30 minutes, look at the birds or something, and then suddenly, somebody throws you the ball really fast. i'm sure you would shit your pants. remind yourself that feeling every time you see valdes. the stats posted earlier here shows that he has the best save %. just because he had fewers shots to save doesn't make it easier, but much harder actually. just one of the many many examples. barca 0 - valencia 0 second half. zigic broke the offside trap. the high line which barcelona can hold because they know how good 1v1 goalkeeper they have behind. he comes towards valdes and valdes saves. messi scores hattrick after that and gets all the credit. nobody remembers any more the save. he can do those 10 games in a row and still nobody remebers. then 3 years later comes torres and scores against him and everybody is against him.

not to mention that he is by far the coolest guy on earth under pressure. theres simply no other goalkeeper who can pass the ball between rooney and giggs in the CL final when the whole world is watching him.
