everybody knows that messi is allowed to take those runs few times in a game. i remember a former basketball player, who was a great 3point shooter. the coach told him that he can take the 3pointer when they went to a counterattack. even when his teammates were in better position they either passed him to take the shot or he took it himself.

DeMerit explained it perfectly.

What would make it even more annoying is that you'd like to feel that you could rough him up. But in reality, he is probably tougher and has more courage than the majority of the players who are bigger and stronger....so you try to kick him and he avoids it...then you kick him and he just gets straight back up.
And then the next time you get near to him, he embarrasses you.
