+1 to the previous 2 posts. Positioning and opportunism is 50% of what being a good striker is all about. RvN, the pre-injury Higuain etc. all score so many goals because they know where to be at the right time, can't hate on a striker for being a fox in the box, it's a big skill.

Hahaha that's actually true. And yeah, if Messi can continue to improve on his free kicks (I think he made a huge step forward in this last season, but there is still plenty of room for improvement), he will basically become the perfect player. IMO free kicks are the only thing that Maradona clearly did better than Messi, given that Messi started making insanely good through balls a lot last season.

He was not so good though,he's clearly not fit. The thing with Leo is that he can have a poor game throughout the night but he always pops up with a goal or an assist.That's what makes him the best.

Overall Maradona's passing was better, BUT Messi made huge strides in his passing last season. He's not actually THAT far from Maradona's passing level anymore. He will almost certainly keep improving on this with age, so it's possible he will equal Maradona in this.
