Messi runs around 65% of the average player, he doesn't really need to rest. In fact playing two games a week might be the best thing for his fitness. The main exception I suppose is if he's played for Argentina and has had to deal with things like long travel or playing at altitude in which case he should be rested.

Has anyone got any proper stats on how many kilometers Messi run per game (total + distance at high speed)? I'd like to compare them to previous seasons and to other players.

We would still easily win agsinst small teams without Leo.
Not when the schedule is two games a week, those times we need quality. Only league game against some tougher opponents without Messi was against midtable Levante at home, and we scraped 1-0 win.

Guardiola.

Other than that, I think that difference correctly describes last season.

I don't think any good would come from placing a set number of games Messi should play. If he's in full flight form and playing energetically, why unnecessarily rest him for the satisfaction of some fans even if he's not really at risk for injury? It's about knowing when to rest him. If for example there are multiple midweek matches back to back with CDR and CL, then resting him in a minor league game in between would be smart. Especially if he is actually showing signs of fatigue. Otherwise it just messes with his rhythm to randomly bench him for a match in the middle of his best form when there's no apparent reason to do so.
I think playing too much is starting to take its toll on many players, Messi being one. He should play around 55 next season if he wants to be well for the wc. Not playing cdr matches against the like of alaves, and/or when coming back from internationals would probably be enough.

Lemon curry?
How can they vote for Guardiola if he hasn't even coached this year?
The survey was not restricted to this season. It was just asking for the best active individual player/coach there is at the moment, and Guardiola coming to Bayern qualifies him as "active". Also, it was an open survey, not multiple-choice.

Oh... thanks. It's still absolute nonsense, though.
