But Alexis and Pedro have scored almost a goal per game without Messi. The way we play, the guy in Messi's position always thrive. When Alexis has played there, he looks possessed by demons and looks like a combination of Ronaldo and Romario.

Don't exaggerate... Alexis will never be a combination of ronaldo and romario. romario was the most clinical finisher I remember watching. Ronaldo is also in a very different level.
And you probably meant that in the way Barça used to play, the false 9(Messi) used to thrive.

7 goals in past 11 games. But 3 were penalties, and 1 was a direct free kick.

So 3 goals in 11 games from open play. He is off form right now. Not to say he can't come back, just that he's off form right now.

Funny that you chose the arbitrary number of 11. If you but go back 2 more games to 13 of the past games, Messi has 13 goals in 13 games, 7 of which are from open play. On top of that, the last 13 games Barcelona has scored 27 goals as a team. That means that Messi is scoring almost 50% of the goals for the team.
That's speaks of a team wide problem and not a Messi problem. Other players are underperforming worse than Messi, yet the brunt of the criticism is being directed at him.

It was a slight exaggeration, but the position Messi occupies is the focal point of our play. So many goals come from that position, regardless who plays there. But it looks like we will get a new CF for Messi to play behind, so this could be interesting. Messi really needs to get a massive rocket up his behind, and I think Lucho is the man for it. Hopefully we get Cavani, but if not, I wouldnt mind moving Pique permanently to the CF position where his goal scoring prowess can shine and his brain farts are less decisive.

Like this:

-----------------Pique-------------
------------Neymar---Messi--------
-------Iniesta--Busquets--Rafinha---
Alba--Dedeckenbauer---Luiz---Danilo/Bartra
--------------Ter Stegen-----------

If I go back one game he has 10 goals out of 12, but 4 out 12 in open play.

Sure if I go back one more game, he scored a hat-trick in that one. Like I said, he is off form. He has been off form for the bast 11 games, that's my point, don't know what you are arguing.

Arbitrary number of games to suit your point. The team is off form, Messi is still accounting for nearly 50% of the team's scoring. If you can't see that as the problem, then I don't know what to tell you.

Form is kept until you lose it. He lost it around that time. I'm also talking about Messi specifically. He used to be able to score regardless of how the team was performing, to pull through when the team needed him. He hasn't done it in a while.

Not slight at all :p
Alexis will never be a legend like ronaldo or romario. And Tata's "tactics" or whatever it is, is hurting the false 9. Messi, in particular. He's not involved as before. Barça now goes wide and crosses to no one. Messi yesterday headed the ball 2 or 3 times, I guess. He also tried to head a few other crosses, to no avail. It's like they don't know how to attack anymore.

So I'm waiting for Messi to :

- score a goal from outside the box with his right foot

-score a backheel goal

- score a bycicle kick goal

- score a goal from the midfield

Sorry but that's a lot of BS. The team has been playing poorly since exactly your arbitrary cut-off mark. To hold Messi accountable to extraordinary play despite the team's overall mediocrity just because in the past he has been able to save the team's ass, is beyond unreasonable.
Even with your so called "lost form" he still accounting for nearly 50% of the team's scoring.

Using your arbitrary cut-off game numbers, Messi has scored 7 goals in 11 games, 3 from open play, yet the team as a whole has score only 16 goals in those 11 games.

The team is slumping badly, but lets blame Messi, he is clearly at fault for not being able to single-handily win games for a mediocre-performing team with his superhuman efforts.

Haha me too, I am especially expecting that he will score an overhead bicycle kick someday, Saturday will be the perfect day to do that :)

He isnt that involved cuz he barely moves anymore, so the midfield has to play wide.

Look at David Villa. His goal scoring took an immediate nose dive after we forked up 40m for him. He had numerous individual awards until 2010. We signed him that summer, and after that; no more individual awards and he got less than 0.4 goals per game with us, eventually off-loaded for two bags of potato chips.

Well, the thing about Villa is he got injured and then he got old... If his poor play was due to Barca, he would be star now in Atletico, but he isn't.
