11 - Raphinha

I wouldn't call this a super performance, he scored a high-quality goal, created one chance for Lewa, pressed well, and had good positioning. Besides that, he didn't complete any dribbles and many of his crosses didn't hit their targets. It's not like our other attackers performed superbly though. What I like about him is that he seems to know how to finish (Something we really need)

^seem to know how to finish, well after 2 pre season games in Barcelona he has succeeded there, but did he ever really before? What would his rating be yesterday if he didn't score that chance shot perfectly? Is he expected to continue finishing like that?

Well then you should be satisfied with this team

Upfront:

Fati-Lewa-Raphinha

Three killers. They all like to score goals and play direct. That's why I thought Pedri was struggling. Overthinking we need to pass through the pitch like old days. These guys made good runs to be available.

Fati is not a winger.

To be fair he was being practically man-marked by one of the best pure defenders in world football .. Rudiger is a monster

What is he then because he ain't striker

He is, imo, a second striker, or free roamkng forward how kids are calling it these days. He doesn't have the speed to be a winger, nor the dribbling ability. But his nous to be in the right place and his finishing skills make him lethal around the box. Let s hope he ll stay injury free this season.

Both Fati and Ferran are too slow to be wingers in the modern game. Eventually 9ne 9f them will play cf or false nine or they'll both be shipped off. Don't know about Fatis injuries and Ferrans mentality.

Ansu is a better dribbler than Ferran and generally more skilled in that department than people give him credit for. He just needs some time, confidence and rythm.

Well Ferran can't dribble a training cone, so that's not saying much.

His average level is miles above Dembele's, therefore he will start.

Dembele only plays like he did tonight 1/10 matches.

There's a reason Dembele had 13 assists despite playing 21 league games last season. Talent-wise, Dembele is clear but he has lacked consistency for a while and he's actually been pretty consistent this season so I see Xavi starting Dembele and subbing Raphinha in, after all he pushed for him to stay. Raphinha's introduction also seems to have pushed Dembele to work on his finishing cause it has been awful for a while, anyways, whatever happens, our rw is sorted.
