How many full games has Umtiti played for us? How many of those had defining moments in our season? In how many of those games was Umtiti really pushed to the extreme and showed he's above Masch?

Irrelevant. Mascherano is costing us a goal a game. Umtiti is not. What should be done is obvious.

We know for a fact Masch can deliver when it matters and that this is a rough patch of low form, the recent bad games are the exception not the rule, so that's what gets him the benefit of the doubt, not how many titles he's won... You can bet your ass any coach in the world would chose Masch over Umtiti without even having a second thought...

Which probably plays a large part in why we're doing so terribly this season.

That's not to say he should a starter by default as some are implying, and if he doesn't improve fast then I agree some adjustments should be made, but calling for his head right now and making up stupid nicknames for a player that has left his skin and heart for the club is nothing short of a disgrace...

It's not really calling for his head to suggest he shouldn't be a nailed on starter because of how he performed before his steep decline.

I think playing 3 summer tournaments in a row at a high level and losing all 3 finals has shattered him physically and mentally. He is over 30 now and got one World Cup left in him but with him out of form Argentina will really struggle to get there.

It's why you can't have too many players over 30 because they can lose their level and their legs can go any time.

So is ter Stegen but I don't see you crying about bringing bravo back

Because it's futile.
He's a Man City player now

If we had a good sub for MaTS on a sufficient level people will want him benched by the sub
Same as last season when Ter stegen was conceding, even I asked for Bravo to play to bring Ter back to his senses

Same thing with Mascherano. He's older, tired and off form Why continue playing him while we have red hot on form Umtiti???

Masche rest then when he is good and ready bring him back

If we will only play Mascherano why buy a 3rd CB who is very good??

What for? To put him on the bench all season?

Yup, let's play Masip too, he hasn't costed us a single goal this season and remains unbeaten so far!

Which probably plays a large part in why we're doing so terribly this season.

Spot on, it's all Mascherano's fault. Or at least "large" part of it, right?

It's not really calling for his head to suggest he shouldn't be a nailed on starter because of how he performed before his steep decline.

That was aimed at other members, but yeah, keep fighting the good fight...

Solid despite having to play on the left side of defense.

He'll have another great season with Barca, mark my words.

All three CB's played well today. I thought it would be a mistake to play Mascherano so close after his return from Argentina, but he made no mistakes. Still, I am nervous about his passes parallel to the goal. He got burnt terribly in the Atgentina NT against Peru.

Another fine game by Masch, I think his bad streak is over. Lucho will play him somewhere in most of the games for the rest of this season. He'll end up the year high up on the team minutes played list, like every year. He stops more attacks than any other player, usually before they really get going. Every coach in the world wants a player like this on the field.
