I don't mind him, he would cost nothing, nothing to lose, a lot to gain.. Azpi also can come..

Pique be 36 next season and Araujo could well ask for huge contract that club wont give.

Christensen for free improves the squad and far better than likes of Lenglet.

I don't know why everyone reproduce the same 'for free' motto, when we know wages bear much more significance in the finances of the club than transfer fees.
Araujo is being paid peanuts atm, and he deserves more wage than Christensen, about whom we don't even know how much he asks

They wont pay him huge salary and for free is relevant as much lower amortised cost and easy to move on.

Transfer fees matter just as much as the salaries also.

Araujo is irrelevant as he is negotiating his own contract or will most likely have to let him leave in summer if asks for too much.

Our current CB situation:

Pique - can still do a job but on the verge of retirement
Araujo - most promising option we have right now. question marks around positioning/distribution and injuries.
Lenglet - an ok option as bench warmer but time passes and we're going nowhere with him. could still fetch us decent money
Garcia - certified bum
Umtiti - deadweight
Mingueza - not even a CB really.

Theoretically we should get rid of at least 3 current CBs. I would say 4, but Garcia will be kept because he's Catalan.

Christensen as bench/rotation would be ok. Whoever thinks we're going places with him as starter needs their head examined.

Yeah, you're talking out of your arse here.

He has been mostly brilliant under Tuchel and equally great for our national team, being an integral part of one of the best defensive units in Europe.

I could easily see him being a great partner to Araujo. My only reservations being that he seems to work best in a 3 man defense and the fact that he's not particularly fast. He's nonetheless a super classy CB with ball playing skills that suit our play style perfectly, and getting him on a free transfer seems like a no-brainer to me. Hell, even if the shortcomings I mentioned turn out to be too severe, I'm pretty sure we could sell him no problems later on.

He?s pretty fast. His major problem has been his lack of aggression, but he seems to have improved under Tuchel.
