15 - Andreas Christensen

DonAK

President of FC Barcelona
Rudiger want to be among the highest paid defenders in the world.

PSG is the only club that would offer him what he want. Real Madrid and Bayern already backed out with the demands he's making.

So many people underrating him.

One of the best ball playing CBs out there. Technique to even play at DM in a pinch.

He will form a formidable duo with hopefully Araujo.

I am hoping the deal is not for just 3 years as some reported last week. MD says it is for 5 years, we will have to wait and see.

This last year or so CBs sold by Chelsea

Timori left Chelsea for 25m+
Zouma left Chelsea for over 30m.
Guehi left Chelsea for Palace for 20m.

Yet Christensen who has played well for them week in week out and won CL with them is not sexy enough to get over 35m for on market...

He's a 26 year old Dane who mostly goes under the radar (a difference compared to being a young French or Brazilian for example).
He's solid but he doesn't make as much headlines as say Rudiger or Silva in that back three. And it's not clear that he'll replicate his solid performances in a back 4, so there's always doubt about that.

He's valued at 35m at the moment, which I think is fair. And what a club would agree to pay for him at most, if he'd have a longer contract.

Yes he is in his prime and has higher standing than any of those players that went for 20-30m.

The fact he is Danish is irrelevant.. as if Zouma is seen as 'sexy' and a bigger name because he is French.

The argument is he is valued at 35m and 5m more than likes of Zouma but never 40m... and many more clubs would be after him for free and giving him more money if valued at 40n but not 35m.

None of that makes sense.

How much more would Christensen be getting if he was a player teams would pay 40m for?

His nationality is irrelevant on the pitch, but I know you understand how a French, Brazilian or Spanish player gets that extra bit of primary valuation compared to a Dane, Egypytian or Pole.

He'd be a good 3rd CB at most big clubs. Don't think Liverpool, City, Bayern, Madrid or Barcelona would pay 40-45m for that type of player. 30-35m is a more likely range.

No Zouma does not take any more of a fee as he is French. It makes no sense.

City payed over 40m for Ake, United dont have a CB better than Christensen.

Gone from 'no one pays close to 40m to.. he could go for 35m'.

Barely even an argument but the points made dont stand up as to him being Danish or not sexy enough.

When likes of Zouma and Ake are going for 30/40m it is safe to say Christensen has more to back up a fee than those two.

What would be his wages if teams would pay 40m for him as opposed to his value now at 35m max?

Is the signing of Christensen as good as the Madrid signing of Alaba?

Or rather, could he make the same type of impact in our 11.

Also don't forget that when Alaba come in Madrid sold Varane who had a year left on his current deal. Like Araujo.

ARA reported that his (same for Kessie) sign-on fee will be paid along with his salary over the length of his contract. That's the reason why rumoured salary seems to be a bit high.

Usually sign-on fee gets paid in first year, but this would further burden masa salarial in first year and that's not in the interest of the club under current circumstances.

A thing to consider when lamenting about his high salary.
