I believe it's different from nation to nation. I think French players can be stopped by their clubs, like Madrid did. For Spain, clubs have no say, it's in the law or sonething.
Well players themselves can sure say no and they should, at least occasionally, when knowing their availability for club is crucial or they not feeling too well.

The first episode in the Next Generation series on Barca One is quite good in many ways although odd mix that they scrapped together over past 12-14 months - timeline wise its very unclear but there’s a great little sequence on Fermin with his grandparents and the jubilation when he got called to first team training, to the US tour and then scoring in pre-season in a Clasico

This, is La Masia effect

Personally I don't think the nationality matters. We are all human, we can be coached to adapt to different training methods. Of course, a bi product of harder training is small injuries at the beginning, that is the adaptation process. If the players take care of themselves as they should, they will become fitter for it.

We are not a team that presses for 90 minutes. We have 60-70% of the ball most weeks, so we're pressing a maximum of 30-40% of the time. By virtue of controlling the ball, we won't work as hard. This cohesive press has been lacking since the Pep days. As far as I can see Flick doesn't need to change anything, he's doing a fantastic job.

He wanted to show a lot in the limited time he had yesterday. Made run after run but rarely received the ball and looked very frustrated at times.

Guess he knows there is a lot of competition in his spot now and needs to make the most of his cameos. Imo he is the third best LW in the squad, after Raphinha and Olmo.

But Fermin will still get many minutes if he keeps up his form from before his injury - no doubt.

Sad how conservative we are even after being 3-0 up against fodder.

Fermin hopefully starts at the 10 Wednesday. Unless Olmo ends up starting. Which seems unlikely.

Energy is going to be needed and he can interchange with Raphinha no problem.

Goals and Energy will carry that game.
