Too much dribbling when it is not needed.

Well, playing without the ball has gotten better than in previous matches, but there are still problems. He has to chase the opposing left-back, otherwise against stronger opponents it will be the same as against Benfica, when their left-back wore down the right flank of Barcelona's defense.

But fans usually look at what a player does on the ball, forgetting that on average a player possesses the ball for 3 -5 minutes per match. And just as important is what he does for the remaining 85 minutes.

If Yamal's problem of playing without the ball is not solved, you will remember my words after the big matches.

Last season Yamal completed 1.9 dribbles per game (55% success rate).

This season so far he's completed 3.8 dribbles per game ( 53%).

And in last 5 games he always completed from 5 dribbles and more (11 alone vs Alaves).

I knew that he has good dribbling skill but didn't expect him to be such high volume dribble after just 1 year.

Crazy progression.
To contextualize, Messi in 14/15 was averaging 10+ dribbles a game across a CL campaign where we played PSG x 4, City x 2, Bayern x 2 and Juve x 1

Not taking anything away from how amazing Lamine is but damn, the GOAT was a menace

The yellow was more for the combined complaint and kicking away the ball.

In La Liga you can kick away the ball all you want if you do it nonchalantly. But if you do it in visual frustration then it's an immediate yellow.

It also often depends what color shirt you wear.

Good post. Messi was levels above as a dribbler. Yamal is a very different kind of player.

The issue is that he's a bit selfish sometimes. Needs to stay humble and keep working hard to maintain his level. Neymar is not the best idol to have in that regard.

Can't really complain the ref allowed some dirty plays considering Gavi should have been off in the first 15 mins if the ref applies the rules by the book. We have two clear yellows here in succession.

So... let's not moan about the refs in this round.

Lamine has insane ability on the ball, not only for his age but for all ages already, he's gonna be huge if he has the brain for the elite level. Football ability is all there and it can only improve if his head is screwed on properly.

Only an injury could derail his very certain path to legend - he has a quality only the greatest to have played this game had and you hear it from opponents & legends themselves. There’s no point denying it, whatever his final score will be, he defines this generation…at 17 - *Unless a career impacting injury

Even Messi never experienced similar at that age in terms of performance, prominence & the team’s dependance on those very young shoulders. Yet, inexplicably, he seems to thrive in it which is unprecedented for a professional athlete. So I think fans should accept it rather than debate if, it’s only about how great will he become - there’s only one direction for his trajectory, I hope he is here for most of that career because the possibilities are mental
