What he needs to be careful about is Neymar path. Someone that enjoyed fame too much and ended with a pretty mediocre career compared to his talent, because he was not professional.
Neymar was a fighter in reality. Much more so than these new Selecao frauds Vini and Rodrygo hailed as mentality monsters. He underachieved because he left Barça and because his national team was dogshit, not much else imo. But he left Barca because he was greedy so there's that.

Neymar is pretty much the worst role model a player can possibly have.

There's nothing to learn from the guy.

Neymar is insanely talented and gifted. You can't teach or learn that kind of stuff.

His work ethic, discipline, lifestyle and fitness record is pathetic so you don't wanna follow that anyways.

Neymar's work ethic, discipline, lifestyle and fitness record has always been a joke.

When has he shown fighter mentality? Sister's birthday?

He's done better than Vini and Rodrygo for Brazil because he's a vastly superior player. Not because of his fight or hunger.

Off the pitch, he was always a controversial figure like any Brazilian. He used his free time the best he could, indeed. He wasn't the best professional in that regard like you say. But when he was there on the pitch, and especially when it was a big occasion, rarely it would happen that he would disappoint or let someone down. For Santos, for Barca, for PSG, for Brazil it was true everywhere.

Vini and Rodrygo are two footballers who think they have conquered the world, having won 2 CLs in a literal CL farming machine. Rodrygo less so, his lack of contribution might really just be down to him being unable to carry a whole national team on his own. But Vini is an arrogant bitch whose mentality is showing up in last 3 CL games and stinking up rest of the season, then crying when ballon d'or is given to a consistent footballer.

Rodrygo isn't even that good. Seems a very run of the mill player to me. I mean he's good, but people talk about him like he's one of the best players on the planet. It's bizarre. Real Madrid does that for a guy.

Vini is overrated a bit but absolutely pisses on Rodrygo. He's only a year older too.

Maybe I am just spoiled as I have seen literally hundreds, maybe thousands, of brilliant footballers.

I think players like R9, Dinho, Neymar, Hazard, etc aren't very good role models for young Footballers.

These players are ridiculously talented, god gifted and terrible trainers. It's impossible for the average Footballer to replicate that kind of performance with their lifestyle and training routine.

Similar things happen in Tennis. You try to be Federer but end up as Gasquet at best.

It's a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy - many of the natural geniuses and mavericks are 'poor trainers' and badly disciplined partly BECAUSE of their god given ability. They've never had to fight against the odds as child prodigies (on the pitch, they go through a lot off via poverty), they've never had to compensate for a relative lack of talent with hard work, they can coast through games and still be by a mile the best player on the park. Complacency sets in.

Also, that thing inside them that makes them a genius often makes them mad and likely to go off the rails - see Garrincha, Maradona and George Best to add to the above examples, among many others.

Messi is extremely rare as a very professional genius. And even he had his moments when he used to drink coke and eat pizza often.

Well ofc I would like Yamal to go more towards this Cristiano side of work ethic and discipline, that combined with enormous talent would make him unstoppable

But it depends on his personality and how he develops with time. Right now I think he is disciplined, humble and hard working enough but we'll see how that evolves as he achieves more things, gains more experience, fame, recognition etc.

I think his talent would still allow him to belong to this class of footballers that weren't the most disciplined but still managed to do well because his talent is insane. Injuries are the only thing to be feared imo, especially with how overplayed he is at a young age

It doesn't matter if he is cocky. Some of the best players in history were arrogant. What matters is what you do on the field and what you achieve. If he achieves greatness and becomes a superstar, he can act like a star. For that you need CLs, league titles, maybe Ballon d'Ors, the pinaccle of the sport basically both in terms of team and in terms of individual achievements. I like his confidence because he also shows it on the field. He's not a fraud, he looks like the real deal.
Give it some time, guy is 17. Most teanager of his age are cocky.
If he's the same after 21st Bday, I will say he's cocky, up until then, its ok to be one, he's developing into a Man, needs to learn every aspect of it.
What I am more concerned is how he handles his Fame outside the field.
