Was Santos Neymar more talented than current Yamal? I don't think so. Neymar was more of a trickster but Yamal now is already world class at decision making. Very good dribbler, also can be tricky one though not as much as Neymar.

Bear in mind that Yamal is just a 17 years old boy. He is already world class player, performs week in week out.

Neymar was not just a trickster. He scored 136 goals for santos in 225 appearances. Won the the Copa Libertadores whilst being MVP.

Yamal is better than Santos Ney imo because when Ney came in 13/14 to Barca, he wasnt as good as Lamine is now at 17. Ney was even a few years older in 2013.

Ney exploded in 14/15 and then reached a level which is higher than Lamine's current level, we will see in a few years how much Lamine is able to improve.

But, he was not better than Yamal on accolades at 17. When he joined his first year at Barca wasn't that special. He was learning a new league and club. He may have been more skilled. Maybe a better goalscorer. But Yamal is the type of player that doesn't need stats necessarily to be a contributing factor to winning. Spain Euro puts him comfortably ahead as a player. Doesn't mean Neymar wasn't better than him in all the flashy departments.

Neymar also had a strong Confederations Cup win in 2013 which contributed to a boost in Bdor ranking. But he was 21 back then, 4 years older than Yamal. Would bet Yamal will have a golden ball by then. And will be interesting to see where Yamal ends up in the ranking 2024, surely top 10.

Current Yamal has fewer rough edges compared to that Neymar, perhaps it's an effect of being adapted to European football.
