I'm no Jamdav but FDJ is probably the only one trying to progress the play when things get tough.

The dimwits calling him out for taking too long on the ball are mistaking responsibility for passivity.
We have plenty of circulation for the sake of circulation. We never fucking get anywhere.
What he's doing is taking it upon his shoulders to actually progress the ball in a meaningful way, in a way that shifts the status quo of the situation. Can't do that without having a look, assessing the options, moving about to feel out the opponent's structure and look for openings. Especially since our movement is so poor that there are often no good options.
The problem would be if he were letting good opportunities pass when holding onto the ball. I rarely see that. What we're losing out on is just three or four meaningless passes before it ends up back at his feet.

Simple pass really. Lots of space to hit so didn't really need pinpoint accuracy.

Simple for the ones that are talented on ball yes. Hit the ball with control, what you need to do when ball comes to you with contra-spin and you don't take a first touch.
