It's absolutely his fault too. Stegen made a stupid mistake but Eric chose to get a red minutes into the game. A red at the start the game is way worse than conceding a goal a few minutes in. You can come back from that easier than playing with 10 for 90 minutes. Eric is a fucking idiot, in the past and again today.

Not sure you have played soccer before.....a lot of things are on instincts in football..you ve barely a microsecond to think and react at the same time...as a defender, wont blame him if his first instinct was to block the player and prevent a goal,hoping he was not the last line of defense. A lot of defenders get away with such and most times,their first reaction as a defender would be to minimise the impending danger first.

Keeper should have seen he was closely marked and was moving away already before passing to him.....

...and i am one of those who never wished he wore a Barca jersey again, .....but in this instance, it was 1000% on Ter Stegen.

Ter Stegen is the main perpetrator, yes. But a real DM not a makeshift one like Eric Garcia doesn’t lose his calmness receives the ball and plays it in one pass to Cubarsi which is obviously the most logical pass. How bad the pass might be from Ter Terrorist very dodgy movement from Garcia right before he is about to receive the ball he suddenly stops. Busi or even Bernal wouldn’t get caught lacking in a situation like this.

It's not about his play in this situation or his awareness. It's about his low IQ not understanding it's way better to do absolutely nothing in this situation than risking a red card. It's the beginning of the game in a 8 game league format, not the final minutes of a knock out match.
That's absolute basic understanding of a defender and he failed in that. Gündogan said the same thing after Araujo and they hated him for it. This is elementary school football.

I agree, he even made a sprint to receive the pass and the second Taliban passed he moved up. Why even make that move towards Terrorist? I was honestly torn when I saw Garcia play from start on DM, was thinking it's a "difficult" position for a noob away in CL against a physical Monaco - starting Tuna on LW would might have been a better choice, a fuck up on LW wouldn't be as dangerous. Maybe this actually is on Flick, a little overconfident after the LL start.

This is an emotional and unfair take. Garcia had a great season at Girona as CB. That's proof enough he's more than good enough to be a rotating player for the defense.
We don't have the luxury of getting to choose from a big pool of players.
