Our last defensive action was a total tactical chaos.
No one defending on the left side.
Balde was in attack.
No one defenfing on the right side.
Kounde was in attack.
Defensive midfielder Eric moving to the left and trying to stop their counter.
Balde not marking Molina who came from behind him.
Inigo in attack.
Only Cubarsi, Raf and Pedri in the middle tracking back.
A total chaos.
But then, it makes you wonder: if we have so many players upfront, we should score lots of goals, right?
But no.
In the attack, majority of them are sterile and don't know how to score.
Yet in the defense, it is a total chaos.
In short, we have:
Sterile attack
Chaotic defense
Too many ball-keeping-possession-recycling players.
Other teams in the last few years (except City) who are winning trophies, are creating chances and goals by giving away some possession in order to "invite" the opponent up and to kill him on the counter when there is more space (Spain won the Euros in that way).
Atletico is not playing on possession.
Rm is not playing only on possession.
Extreme possession game is not the problem.
If we would have 5 scorers in the team, like prime City, than high possession is good.
But with sterile finishers, suicidal high offside trap and chaotic defending = we end as a team who mostly controls the match, leaves "the eye-pleasing feeling" to our fans, misses numerous chances and concedes simple, cheap, naive counterattacking goals.
