3 - Alejandro Balde

Our last defensive action was a total tactical chaos.

No one defending on the left side.
Balde was in attack.

No one defenfing on the right side.
Kounde was in attack.

Defensive midfielder Eric moving to the left and trying to stop their counter.
Balde not marking Molina who came from behind him.
Inigo in attack.

Only Cubarsi, Raf and Pedri in the middle tracking back.

A total chaos.

But then, it makes you wonder: if we have so many players upfront, we should score lots of goals, right?
But no.

In the attack, majority of them are sterile and don't know how to score.
Yet in the defense, it is a total chaos.

In short, we have:
Sterile attack
Chaotic defense
Too many ball-keeping-possession-recycling players.

Other teams in the last few years (except City) who are winning trophies, are creating chances and goals by giving away some possession in order to "invite" the opponent up and to kill him on the counter when there is more space (Spain won the Euros in that way).

Atletico is not playing on possession.
Rm is not playing only on possession.

Extreme possession game is not the problem.
If we would have 5 scorers in the team, like prime City, than high possession is good.

But with sterile finishers, suicidal high offside trap and chaotic defending = we end as a team who mostly controls the match, leaves "the eye-pleasing feeling" to our fans, misses numerous chances and concedes simple, cheap, naive counterattacking goals.

Well said lil bro

What are you talking about playing only extreme possession? Most of the goals Barca scored in the cl was on counter attacks. In the league they scored many times on the counter and they play in general much more vertically.

Maybe we should go back to Xavi when the team had to park busses vs leganes, celta etc cuz they couldn't make 3 passes

Just look at his face. He doesnt know what to do with the ball. Fermin delivered a very good cross from the left. Never seen that from this guy. Lookalike a basket player moved to football due to lack of capability. No magic no defense no brain.

I have to wonder, was having a veteran like Alba actually crucial to him? It feels like his best season was his first when Alba was here.

It could be just the motivation of a rookie, or having a competition for the position. It could also be that having a good advisor behind your ears is helpful.
Suddenly it feels like Alba and Busquets were big reasons we won that league. With Balde and FDJ turning out to be bums.

I mean, I always said that replacing them with nothing or with bums won't help.
Their time was up, and both knew it. We just failed to properly replace either
