4 - Ronald Araújo

Because Laporta need sells to buy new toys and he's not capable to sell anyone else.

This is a "Laporta is bad, so anything he does is bad" narrative.
We have no idea how is the situation, and the club has historically been great when it comes of evaluating the players they have that they don't need. Whether it us under Laporta's or others. How many players in this century that we sold from first team, that in 3 years we said it was stupid decision? It is a rare occurrence.

I like Araujo and I want him to stay, but his agent has been negotiating in bad faith since he has arrived, under different SD too. It is also not clear what is the medical situation with him, do we believe he can stay fit or not, and also the never ending question of whether or not he fits Flick's system of offside trap.

Plenty of variables that we don't know off tbh, that can't be simplified into "Laporta "

He was always one of the most sellable assets.

Raphinha
Kounde
Him
De jong ( not so much).

He wants a big contract that matches kounde or Martinez, which I totally understand.

I think he deserves at least Martinez money.

In a few years we'll probably have 2 new players starting in defense, because the club is definitely not giving kounde a pay increase and araujo is seen as a high value asset, especially for FFP purpose given we paid so little for him.

Amazing, amazing, amazing... Barcelona fans are surprised that the club wants to sell a central defender who is bad on the ball.

I recommend you to review the match Barcelona - Galatasaray 10.03.2022

Watch this match carefully and pay attention to the tactical trick of playing without the ball by Galatasaray coach.

You won't have any questions after watching this match.

Araujo’s agent likely trying to leverage Juventus wages to negotiate better terms than those the club have already offered in the renewal

I think the player is certainly as reliable if not more valuable than Jules but unsustainable to have the entire defense with these high wages - something will have to give and I doubt Deco et al will deviate from the salary structure in mind.

How many starters in their peak did we even sell? It is a rare occurrence so I can't name you players like that. The only one I that comes to mind in the last decade is Neymar and that is one of the biggest mistake in football history for everyone involved.

How do you know that? I think the club is lowballing him for years with a bullshit offer that no one in his place would accept. I could be wrong but Araujo seems like someone who is not such a greedy bastard that he wouldn't sign a reasonable offer. If he goes to Juve that will be the proof of that.

The only argument that I could accept is his ballplaying where he is ok but not great and if we would get a crazy amount for him. In the end we'll sell for a loan + some 20 mil in the summer and our only CBs will be Cubarsi, Tah and Inigo.

Cesc, Griezmann & Dembele were all starters when they have left, to name a few. Araujo so far isn't a starter either.
We don't know if we are lowballing him, and it doesn't make sense that Araujo agent is having a disagreement with us for 2nd time, under a different SD. Why is Araujo is the only one we keep lowballing in 3 years?
How do you know our offer is bad? Or that he is underpaid? Shitology? There is no concrete evidence of that.

Very bad examples that don't prove what you want to prove. They were all expensive flops here and had a better career when they left Barca. Actually in hindsight one could argue selling Griez right when he could take over Messi's role was a mistake and Cesc with Xavi leaving a year later also. We don't miss Dembele just because we had luck with Yamal.

The president didn't change and he calls the important shots, not some Deco.

I don't know, it's my opinion about Araujo, I could be wrong. There is also no evidence that Araujo demands some crazy salary.

The club has to wait and see how Araujo performs first. He's one of our best defenders, but also very fragile. Handing him a new, improved contract currently is a risk. I don't want a repeat of Ansu Fati situation, when he was given stellar contract while still being on the injured list. That was stupid on Laporta and Alemany.

I don't rate their post-Barca careers as successful. Griezmann is nowhere near the shiny Atletico days before he joined Barca. Cesc was okay, but not any better than what he displayed at Barca. Dembele will never improve, not in a million years. He had every opportunity to do so at Barca and he just throw it away. At PSG? He's the franchise player now. I haven't heard of him in a while, if weren't for Lucho.

Breaking: Ronald Araújo has admitted in the dressing room that it's true that he plans to leave the club this month. @ffpolo, @RogerTorello

To go where? Arsenal already have a pairing set, Juve is a few tiers below the top. What other teams have shown interest?

I would sell for 60-70m considering he's out of contract next year. But would rather keep him ofc.
