4 - Ronald Araújo

It looks like his agents were the problem all along. There were reports the club always thought his agents didn't pass along everything the club discussed with them to Araujo.
Araujo and his agents were not satisfied with the first proposal from Deco, but when Deco started to wait for a counter proposal, none came, as the agents worked on a transfer to earn money.
Only when Deco called Araujo personally and invited him to attend the negotiation together with his agents, both sides agreed to extend immediately in just one conversation. It was a good job by Deco to include Araujo in the conversation. Maybe he also had the feeling the club didn't count on him anymore and needed to hear otherwise from Deco. In any case, another W from Deco.

💯

One day they say he’s the best defender in the world, the next, he is a liability and should be sold.
The switch up is always insane with our fans
Everyone without rose-tinted glasses sees he's like Kim from Bayern at best, dominant against farmers, but out of the cold water against top teams when it matters.

And Kim has the advantage of not being injured half of the season.

He's great in conservative defense orientated setup like Xavis league winning one. Flicks blitzgrieg football is worst possible style for his weaknesses. Our CBs and basically whole team need to be part time midfielders. Total football, man.

He was the main reason Barca nearly broke the La Liga defensive record 2 seasons ago under Xavi. I never saw Kim do that.
Busquets, Alba, Ter Stegen, Frenkie, Kounde and Christensen all had better ratings than him that season. Especially Busi and MATS were excellent and had way more to do with conceding so few goals.

This narrative of him being the main man is just pure fanboyism, especially since he didn't even play half of the season due to injuries again. Not very truthful of you.
And Kim? Bayern have only conceded 15 goals, best record in a long time, MOTM vs PSG.

It really needs to be studied why this guy has so many dickriders...

I think systematically Araujo also requires Frenkie to drop into CD to help either ball carry or pass.

Effectively this creates a knock on where a space is void in midfield and so on.

It's fine if you are doing slow contained buildup but problematic if you want fast transitions and a fast press.

Hence why so far Casado and Araujo has been an issue.

So it's just a case of Araujo being a top defender but possibly not matching with Flick's way and needed a more balanced option.

But hey if he is on a solid wage renewal then it gives us more profile options at centreback.

Agree with this. Would sacrifice 10% of his defensive abilities to have a CB as comfortable on the ball as Garcia, Cubarsí, Inigo or Christensen. The impact on our build up seems to great, which leads to some dangerous turnovers.
I'd sell for 50m +, even if I'd sorely miss seeing him bully Vini every clasico.
