Gavi should never have been benching FDJ. You are correct. Xavi was wrong.
We are talking about a short spell when Barca tried to punt FDJ anyway.. other than that... FDJ been the starter ahead of him.

Entire de jong parade was going crazy, Xavi is picking based off favorites & all that non sense.
Like I said at the time, if he's getting benched by 2 kids and a old man that's on him.
Gavi was definitely better than De jong end of last season, coming to the beginning of the season, you running away was proof enough of that, the trends back then also proves it.

Thats on Xavi not FDJ and it lasted a small amount of time after club tried to sell FDJ.
You are absolutely clueless as usual.. FDJ was far better than Gavi in second part of Xavis first season. Playe more than Gavi who was not even a starter when team had best form and beat Real away and Napoli away with FDJ world class in both.

Yes, but Gundo could have even more goal contributions closer to the goal.
Ideally we would use Gundo and Pedri as double 8s (like Pep was doing with Gundo-KDB) to create chances for Lewy and Dembele but since we don't have a DM Xavi will need to find a way to interchange positions between Pedri and Gundo (who of them will stay back and who will go forward) based on the opponents etc..
With current team (and even if we sign Oriol Romeu as a DM I see him more as a rotational player than a starter) and if we'll continue to use 4 midfielders box I'd keep Pedri and FDJ deeper with Gundo and Gavi in front of them. Should work at home against most La Liga teams that usually sit back. Against better teams would probably need to bring a more stationary DM to also give more freedom to FDJ and move both Gundo and Pedri closer to the opponents goal.
Good thing is all our midfielders are versatile and capable of playing multiple roles. Now it's up to Xavi to figure out how to get the best out of them.
