Shirt sales having some sort of huge impact on finances is a myth. I even doubt Lewandowski's shirt would sell more than likes of Gavi, Pedri and Ansu if he arrived.

The most sold player jerseys in 2021:

Messi €1.1 mil.
Ronaldo €1.05 mil.
Lewandowski €0.97 mil.
....................

Seems pretty damn marketable to me for a player who didn't have any big move recently.

Maybe he's not popular in Spain but globally it's a different ball game totally.

Bayern have a lot of fans, and fans usually buy the shirt of the biggest star if there are no other sexy players, which Bayern lack.

Prime Lewa would be something else, but a 34 year old Lewandowski won't be the most 'interesting' player at Barcelona. Best, probably, but not the one who excites fans the most or the fan favourite.

Poles and Lewa fanboys will be the biggest spenders, far ahead of Barca fans. Can't imagine a Cule picking Lewa shirt ahead of ones I mentioned, at least not until after a few good years but then it's time to retire lol.

Still point stands, shirt sales of individual players aren't that impactful in the end, unless it's Messi or Ronaldo, but even then the manufacturer gets the biggest piece of the cake and the club mostly PR.

Shirt Sales don't mean much. Like you said Manufacturers get the Lion's share.

But calling these kids more marketable is an absolute joke. Maybe within Catalonia they love the local lads and stuff. In foreign countries, not even close. And BTW most of the shirt sale profits that do come arrives from international sales.

It's more about a morale boost in and around the club than the money purely. Adding the X Factor. Bringing a large volume of goals...

Barcelona fans really live in a bubble

Gavin, ansu and pedri more marketable than one of the best strikers of the 2010s.

34 year old Lewandowski coming for a couple of years is not the type of player to bring a big boost in sales in his first year, unless he hits insane numbers.

30-35m fee to Bayern with one year left? No.

His huge wages? No.

If he comes, every ball has to go through him? No.

The first two points I can completely understand but the third point does it really? Lewa has always struck me as someone who will drop deeper and link as well doing the hard yards if you will whilst other will get goals too. The difference between him and Haaland the other day was night and day. Especially when Haaland has his back to goal the man is pick-pocketed for a past time.

Obviously, under Nagelsmann he's suffered a bit more and apparently isn't happy but tactically it looked like a shit show against Villarreal in the away game so you can understand if your game is getting nullified that he'd be frustrated. They had Lewa, Musalia, Muller, Coman, and Sane all clustered in the box in most attacks.

Not quite sure if that's him complaining about not having everything through him or just frustrated that it's nullified his game a bit.

The global market is filled with plastic fans who couldn't care less about these semantics.

All they know is: Big Name joining Big Club, we like the player, lets order a jersey.

Sounds simple but that's how it is.

Those who don't care about that don't buy authentic shirts anyway.

I'm oot x2

Anyone know the last time we bought 34 yo to be the starting striker?

If RL9 does join I can imagine the ugliness that'll ensue, and at this point I can see all the justifications after next season if he scores less than half the goals this year as "well he's old now so we still got good production out of him" when in reality Xavi's tactics were mostly responsible. Only to be back where we are now no progress on rebuild with high wage player.

This also means Xavi has no faith in Auba, yet Tosser and Dembele get infinity leashes with utter shit target %.

Retirement galactico model has desperation written all over it. I'm not seeing light at the end of this tunnel.
