9 - Samuel Eto'o

For the record, his finishing was never great this season. Even before betís.

I feel he will score in the CL. He will have good service, and man utd won't pack out the defence. It all relies on how xavi plays. Eto'o seems to have lost his finishing skill, but for the majority of the season he had a habit of being in the right place at the right time. I wouldn't take the mallorca and osasuna game into account because those kind of chances he wouldn't have scored any time throughout the season really. Its the ones where a wonderful ball is played through, and eto'o manages to get an accidental touch on it or something. Sounds cynical, but honestly i think thats eto'o's best chance of scoring. And i dont mind..i'd love for that to happen. I dont care if he farts and blows the ball over the line..i just want us to score and win!

Lol he couldn't score against Osasuna and Mallorca ... what makes you think he'll all of a sudden shine against Ferdinand and Vidic ... I like to be positive though  hope he proves me wrong. But for goals, I'm puting my bets on Messi and Henry, even Xavi has a better chance of scoring that Eto'o at this point.

Because against osasuna and mallorca he had to be a top notch finisher. He was asked alot each time he got the ball. However with xavi, iniesta, henry and messi on the pitch its more likely that some killer balls will be played into the box that eto'o will get a touch on. Thats the kind of striker he has been this season.

But he's played the exact same when we have our strongest 11 out anyway. Think of Chelski, madrid, Sevilla, Valencia, and many other games before and after. I'm with Evil, I dunno why you assume he will score against Van Der Saar, Vidic and Rio when he couldn't get his name on the scoresheet in that Chorreo at the bernabeu.

Chelsea was a different defence to man utd. I said that. Chelsea completely choke any player that gets a sniff of the ball in the 18 yard box.

Madrid he was played out wide in order to allow messi to play in the hole. And he set up piqué. He would have loved to score, no doubt, but he wasnt on the field to do that. It was a credit to him that he really sacrificed himself that night.

Sevilla he scored the exact type of goal im thinking he will score against united.

Fair enough, but if a central defender can get his name on the scoresheet surely a winger can  But you're right about how he sacrificed himself. But remind me, if Messi played in the hole against madrid, was it Henry in front of him? He scored 2 but I think they came from the left rather than in the center

eto'o had chances to score in madrid.

he didn't because he's in piss-awful form right now.

that's the end of that.

it would be just like samu to play shit in rome but pop up and nail a goal ala either sevilla game tbh.

He wasn't asked alot IMO, in both league matches, each and every player in the team was creating chances for him, Bojan, Pedro, Guddy, Hleb .. EVERYONE created for him and preferred not to score but pass to Eto'o on so many occasions, but he wasted all ... so I don't think it's a matter of creating chances, he would probably be put in the same spot with Xavi/Iniesta/Messi playing, it's his ability to finish ... and it's been piss-poor recently.

By creating chances i dont mean putting the ball to his feet. That was the eto'o of 05/06. Im talking about putting in balls that are so dangerous that it only takes a nick for them to go in. Or balls that rebound off the post and eto'o bundles in. Just wait and see!

Eto'o playing crap is like having 10 men on the park which we can't afford in Rome. He needs to be on it because he's only going to get 4 chances at most.
