So there's that. Martino has the balls to sub off a guy like Iniesta. Isn't that you all have wanted, again? And now you bash him for that...

It's not called having balls , it's called being stupid.

When you need a goal , you don't substitute one of the few players who could provide something like that against tough opponents.

Why not substitute Messi with Tello against Madrid next wednesday if the score is 0-0.

Iniesta was poor on the night. You don't keep players on hoping they might pull off a wonder-shot, you keep them if they play well. He should have taken off Messi too, not just Iniesta.

Taking someone off who is losing every damn ball is stupid?! Good to know.

Yup can't understand these fickle fans being sad is one thing but down right retarded bias is another. The way thing are going only being able to be in the CdR final with a Catalan coach would have been more satisfying for them than an "outsider" helping them still go for a domestic double with a clearly declining squad

I also agree he should have also taken Messi off but unfortunately he would get so much Flak for doing that.

He's Iniesta , not some random football player.

He could play like shit for 85 minutes only to score or provide an amazing assist in the last 5 minutes.

If you play against a tough team and you have Iniesta , Messi , Maradona , Pele or whatever play bad in the 70 minutes , you don't sub them .

Everyone has off games Iniesta was having one and showed no sign of improvement so it was a good decision to take him off and wasn't everyone on this forum asking for Tata to show some balls and bench the big names and now they are out for his head again Hypocrites

Subbing a winger for the most creative player on the pitch has nothing to do with balls, it's just stupid. In the end we played with Busquets and Xavi in midfield, 3 wingers up front and Messi lingering about in the middle of nowhere.

Taking Iniesta out wasn't a smart decision, he wasn't having a good game, but then again, who was? Iniesta could still do something out of the blue. Tata has admitted he doesn't read games very well. He's out of his depth.

The thing that boggles my mind the most is that these things that we are discussing most of the time are not something that only football geniuses understand and know how to do. I bet over 50% of this forum would have set up better tactics and/or would have made smarter substitutions not only for the two CL games against Atletico, but for several other games this season, too. This is football 101, not quantum physics. I simply cannot understand how professional managers like Tata or Tito or whoever can make such illogical decisions, I honestly can't. But I'm also too insecure in this theory to think that it's that simple, I always look for more reasonable excuses - like that there must be something that he knows behind the scenes that we don't, and stuff like that. But after so many instances of exactly the same problems over and over again, I tend to gravitate towards the former, simplest and saddest explanation.
