Apparently the rest of the team doesn't like scoring meaningless goals nor do they like scoring against rubbish oppositions. I wonder though, were would Barca be in the annals of history, if they actually held certain views in their philosophy that a goal or a minute of any game to be meaningless?

Statistics are not the best way to look at football. Most of Arda's minutes were in meaningless matches. He also scored in many games already won. Can't compare that to Suarez, that has had ups and downs, but scored vs real madrid as well.

And why do you dislike him? Aren't you from turkey?

At first people were saying his statistics weren't that great. They were proven wrong. Then, they were saying it was against bad teams. They were proven wrong too. Now, is it meaningless matches? I'll prove you wrong again but I don't have enough time at the moment. Unless you're only considering Real Madrid, Athletico and Bayern games as meaningful matches of course.

Yes, I am from Turkey. I dislike his arrogant wannabe-gansgster personality, his political support on anti-democratic actions of Erdogan and his original club Galatasaray (I'm a Fenerbahce fan. Arch-rival of Galatasaray). However I must admit he's a funny guy and he's a very skilled player.

BTW, for those wondering, his real position is LAM. If there's no place for an LAM, he can play at LW, then RW. If he has to be played in midfield, he should be given a playmaking role as the man who links the midfield and attack.

What isn't great about him is his nonchalant attitude in some games. His biggest contribution, so far, it's a negative one. His stupid foul on Marcelo vs rm, which enabled them to tie the game in the dying minutes. Statistics mean nothing without context in football.

Meaningless matches are matches like vs Monchengladbach at camp nou. Barça was already first in the group, they were already out. Or the away game vs Hercules in the cdr. One in which he was poor and showed disinterest.

Arda is well known by anyone who follows Barça for a while.

That foul was near the touch line and even the greatest football players in history have made those kind of fouls in the heat of moment, countless times. I seriously doubt some people here played football. The difference is Arda's was against Real and that freekick ended with a goal. And people act like Luis specially told Arda not to foul before he entered the game. In fact Enqrique said he told his players it's important not to foul them near the penalty area in Real matches. Arda could be blamed partly for fouling a Real player near the touch line but he was chosen as a scapegoat. In fact, the ones really responsible for the goal weren't blamed for obvious reasons which everyone knows. Arda should have been the last one on the blame list.

And if that was his biggest negative contribution so far, I say it's been a wonderful journey for him.

I'll talk about meaningful matches debate later. But let's not forget how many minutes has he gotten in "meaningful matches" and at which position he played before analysing his goals and assits in those matches.

People don't act anything, Enrique told the press he instructed arda not to foul, right after the game. Arda not only committed the foul, but tried to fight Ramos, and also didn't bother one bit to defend that set piece. You make a lot of excuses for arda, for someone who "dislikes" him.

And making Barca drop points against rm at home is a good thing now? 2 vital points that can be costly ahead, especially for the h2h.

Arda is still far from being worth what he cost.

Thank you, good stuff.

Turan (and Vidal) have in my eyes shown so much incredible motivation and "love" to the club. They just keep fighting against all odds. They are for sure some of my favourite players in the troop right now. So one thing is wanting them to leave, another is disrespecting them in a unbelievable manner.

Arda is still far from being worth what he cost.

And Neymar is even farther from being worth what he cost. Whats your point?

As said before: In a price/wage-performance-ratio perspective, Turan is doing way better than Neymar.

No, Enrique did not reveal anything like he specifially told Arda not to foul before he entred the game. If you can prove me wrong, I'll apologize.

No, I'm not making excuses. I'm simply revealing the truth while labelling you as a "hater". I really dislike Arda but that cannot prevent me from revealing the statistics and facts. Why specifially Arda? Because he's the most underrated player in this forum and I tend to try defending those kind of people.

Losing 2 points against Real is very much expected and Arda has very little to do with that. Rewatch that set-piece before I share you the statistics of great players that committed fouls around those spots only "this month".

Neymar was vital for a treble. Also important on the double last season, even with his dip in form. Not comparable. Arda's money could had been used to buy a player who'd be more useful, for a longer time, or that'd have a good price in a future sale.

Oh, I'm a hater
That makes you a fanboy, then. Makes sense, looking at your posts. I backed up and defended Arda for a long time, but you weren't registered here yet to know it. That's the problem with trying to be a know-it-all and labeling people, but go ahead, keep at it.

And Enrique was talking about arda, as he was asked about him especifically. His answer was diplomatic, but anyone should be able to read between the lines and understand what he meant.

People still failing to recognize Arda's great contribution to the team's success still goes beyond me...

"Great" contribution? He's been scoring a lot, but not really goals that would change the result of a match. Most of his contributions were goals in games already won, that ended 4-0 or more. The game he really had an impact, so far, was the game away vs borussia. I'm not counting the supercopa because those are only glorified friendlies to start the season. He had a good game vs Eibar as a midfielder too, and I hope he builds on that. But I had higher expectations about him. He's been playing for Barça for more than a year now, and he's yet to really leave some kind of mark.

Lol Arda has been scoring goals and people still badmouth him.

It's not as if he's starting all the big games. Most of the time he's on the bench. Hes doing a great job as a squad player.

So much talk about nothing. He is a very good player whith a very good end product it seems.

Assisy for Suarez Supercup - 0-0, Sevilla
Goals against Sevilla Supercup 0-0
Goal vs Betis 0-0
Assist vs Bilbao 0-0
Assist vs Gijon 0-0
Goal vs Gladbach 0-1

He helped the team a lot when Neymar was not here and since then almost everytime he player LW.

this is hilarious, same with Vidal really. If he is not used more than he is, he can not do really anything about it. Criticising Turan for only stepping up in meaningless games, would be justified, if he was actually a starter and played in every game, both meaningful and meaningless, but he is not. He is given chances, when he is given chances and for majority of this season, giving him chance means he is assisting and/or scoring. Only mistake he made was vs Real and that would never be mentioned if his foul would have not resulted in goal and questions still remain why player like Arda was subbed in as "defensive" sub anyways. He has been humble and hardworking and before and after that and team is not worse off if he is playing instead of Neymar, which cannot be said about many other subs.
