And Higuain's is nearly half that. It feels like this transfer is wasting a lot of our time. We haven't even gotten Cesar or Fellaini yet

you my friend are the classic arsenal fan. my little brother is too. each summer so excited about all the transfer targets you are linked to. then august rolls around and you are furious that all you've signed are some nobodies and a waning star to appease the fans at the last moment. but in wenger we trust! then one at a time you get knocked out of each competition, and the riots start. wenger out!! then you finish 4th at the end, and in wenger we trust! cycle repeat ad nauseum. if you sign either one of higuain, suarez, julio cesar, or fellaini i will be in absolute shock. people are making a big deal that oh, this summer arsenal means business. BS, this is what happens EVERY summer. leave the talking for when they actually sign a player or two, and if they really mean business, they would sign 2 or 3 players from that list.

I've never wanted Wenger to leave, and I don't know where you're getting the "signing nobodies" from. Nasri was wanted by Madrid the season before we got him, Arshavin had starred in Euro-08 before we got him, Cazorla/Podolski are well known, Giroud was top scorer in France, etc.

The frustration always came from NOT improving when we finish 3rd/4th. Instead we would sell our best players and spend all summer worrying about finishing 5th when we should be holding onto them and strengthening. This time we aren't selling anyone, have all this money saved up and are being linked with big players that could massively improve us. I'm just worried that we'll take too long and end up regretting it.

You're not signing nobodies, but these aren't the sort of players that are going to make the difference between fourth and first. Arsenal need to put their hands in their pockets and get hold of a Rooney or a Suarez or someone of the like.

I agree, but holding onto our first team players is just as important as strengthening. We haven't done that since 2004, so a change in policy for the first time in 10 years is something to look forward to. Being linked with Higuain, Suarez, etc is exciting. Now to actually get one of those players in and win something.

Anyways, here are the highlights from the first preseason game (1st vid is 3min highlights, 2nd is 15min extended highlights)

But this happens every year Robbie. You won't sign any of them. You'll sign some talented youngsters and maybe some good quality mature heads, but world class footballers? Don't count on it.

On the subject of young talent though, check out these snippets of 15 year old Dan Crowley (number 10) playing against men for your U21's:

That German-American kid Zelalem looks like he might turn out to be the real deal. 16 years old and debuted with the u-21s, and looks like he's already on the fringes of the first team before his 17th birthday. Has vision and passing range like Fabregas
