I think this has all to do with expectations. But we have to look objectively at players' performance, not be disappointed or surprised based on expectations and rate players based on that.

Lol at some saying Illarramendi wont star for the National Team.

The kid has an amazing talent, A great vision of the field, and everything it takes to pair up in the future with Busquets in the Spanish Midfield, if he keeps progressing well.

Javi Martinez certainly isnt a better partner to Busquets lol.

Im willing to place a bet that if Illarramendi has a good season with Madrid he will go to the world cup. His skill set is perfect to work with Busquets, and hes as old as busquets was in the start of the 11/12 season i believe, the kid is young and with many years left in him. We look at a guy like zidane, the guy didnt really star for his NT team until he was 25-26 ffs.

Illarramendi cost 32 million and can prove to be a great purchase. He has good defensive skills, ball distribution, tactical awareness, if he progresses well he has EVERYTHING to play in the spanish midfield ( the way its formed right now anyways).

Xavi and Xabi Alonso will be facing their last couple of years with the NT as starters, with guys like Illarramendi, Thiago, and Isco coming up, Spain's future is bright, and so is Madrid's considering Madrid has 2/3 of the trio.

And what drug are the people that are saying Neymar > Isco, Illarra, Carvajal, using?

Isco is the best young player in his position along with Gotze..
Illarra is a very smart player who has very capable potential and demonstrated it with two assists against Barcelona in 12/13...
and Carvajal is the most promising RB in the world atm along with Mattia Di Sciglio, he could have had Phillip Lahm like- numbers in 12/13 had it not been for his team mates at Leverkusen missing so much...

Great purchases, and morata and jese look to be promoted as well.

What other impressive strikers are coming from spain, and also spain need direct players like Jese and Deulofeu, its lacking in that, Madrid has around 5 players who could very well be part of the near future of spain nt.

Lets just face the reality, Madrid's summer shopping so far has been super, they have signed Isco who is the most likely future replacement for Iniesta in the NT and two other very good young players in Illarramendi and Carvajal. Whereas Barca is on the verge of losing Thiago, Marquinhos close to joining PSG & in the end Thiago Silva will most probably not come. Neymar won't be defending for Barca next season, we need central defenders & a quality GK for future.

I'm not against the Neymar signing, but, unfortunately, Madrid's summer has been significantly better than ours so far.

Better in what way though.

Barcelona signed probably the most sought after player of the last 5 years, for less money than others were willing to offer.

It is easier to improve a poor team, but that doesnt mean they are having a better transfer window. They have spent about 75m on players that would not get in the Barca team.

Ahead of who?

The only place he would have a chance would be on the right and thats not his position at all.

He'd be better than what we have there now. He wouldn't get a spot in midfield but he'd walk into the RW spot.

Let's see... we could lose our best youngster (besides Neymar) for peanuts, for one. Then there's the fact that they're filling up the holes in their team and strengthening it in multiple positions. While so far, we've only signed one player (again, I think it was a good signing, even though I don't like the price). And there's still a lot of work to be done. We definitely need a CB (and Marquinhos, one of the best options, could get bought by PSG) and haven't done as much as we should have to get one. We'll also need a talented young midfielder if Thiago leaves. We need a GK (although this isn't absolutely urgent, since Valdes is staying) and our RW isn't amazing either (again, I guess this isn't absolutely urgent).

Anyways, Neymar might be a good signing, but Isco + Illarramendi + Carvajal > Neymar.

They are poorer than barca. It's just Barcelona aren't playing to full potential. It's not ridiculous to say we're the second best team in the world after bayern when we are playing the right players in the right positions and are motivated. The only reason Madrid have had success against us in mourinho era is because of our poor management compared to theirs, even then we've had more success. Our talent level is better.

Real Madrid have now paid 75.5M to buy 3 players: Isco (30M), Illarramendi (39M), Carvajal (6.5M)

We have better players that came for Free from La Masia...

Montoya > Carvajal.

Busquets > Illaramendi who's just 1 year younger.

Thiago > Isco.

Even if we sell Thiago, we'll still have 18-22M (+).
