Xavi type player who can dictate the tempo of the game hopefully Arthur develops into a similar player.

Alternatively a Box to Box mid works for a complete midfield someone like KDB

Well in that setup then Ndombele/Pjanic would be the Xavi type no? I would probably go for someone with intensity, a B2B. Van de Beek a bit offensively but I like Frenkie-Pjanic/Ndombele-Van de Beek. Savic fits that role too but way to expensive.

No they are different players. But that might just be becasue Xavi is that special and others pale in comparison.

Still Xavi is a deeplying play maker, Iniesta is ad advanced playmaker I see Ndombele and Pjanic as more advanced playmakers operating in the final third rather than operating from deep.

Peak Barca Xavi was not deep lying he was all over the pitch wherever the ball was and in final third more than deep.

There is no player out there like him. Not only on ability but engine to get about park. He was an athlete.

Don?t fully agree on your description about Ndombele or Pjanic as they both operate from deep from what I have seen but agree everybody is pale in comparison with Xavi.

Think that the blueprint for our next midfield should be:

Athletic DM who is great carrying the ball and finding passing lanes, De Jong is perfect here

A playmaker with great passing range and chance creation like Kroos, Verratti, Thiago etc etc.. Ndombele the closet of those out there who resemble that profile but nowhere near those mentioned.

A b2b, doesn?t really matter if they are more offensive or defensive minded but they have to be very intense and with a big engine. Can be Van de Beek, Savic, F.Ruiz, maybe Aouar.. someone like Wijnaldum from Liverpool do this perfectly fight now, Modrid used to be perfect in this role aswell.

I wouldn't trade even Umtiti or Firpo for Pjanic. It looks like the board is intentionally trying to destroy Barcelona before they leave.

What is it with this board and their obsession of sending away Todibo. He's certainly shown great potential in his limited gametime. Lacks a bit of strength but that can be easily rectified.

Hope there is a buyback clause or right of refusal.

That is true. Ndombele is deep midfield, Pjanic is advanced. Messi is our advanced AM at the moment and we don't need to double him. In a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 systems all we need is one more DM to pair with Frenkie . Someona like Ndombele, Soumare, Camavinga or Fofana.

Pjanic would have been nice 4-5 years ago.
What we really need is a pacey technical AM maybe Houssem Aouar
Feels were linked to alot of old players once again
