Would only sell Frenkie if we sign a top class midfielder as his replacement. Doesn't have to be a CDM. Someone like Florian Wirtz would be awesome.

But knowing this club we'd probably sell him for 100m and sign Dani Olmo for 70m.

Great idea, let's just sell our best midfielder.

What's next. Sell Dembele and Raphinha?

Sell Christensen too while we're at it. Will gain some big profit for him.

Chelsea would probably pay the big bucks and London much better place to live for a footballer than Manchester.. but Frenkie will refuse to leave again. Other day he did an interview reaffirming we wants to stay for many more years.

Hope the club don't make themselves look like even bigger clowns with a repeat of last summer.

Since when did we become Dortmund or Benfica to sell our best players. Hilarious...

We need to keep our best players and add on top of them not the opposite.

There are some 8-10 players in the squad that should not be touched. The rest can go.

The 10 are: Stegen, Balde, Christensen, Kounde, Araujo, Pedri, Gavi, De Jong, Dembele and Raphinha.

I didn't say we should sell him, but that if we were to sell him I'd be fine with it as long as the replacement is an elite tier player or talent. I see Wirtz as an elite talent who is performing at a really high level already. If not for his torn ACL last year he might have even been signed up by Bayern, Real Madrid or some PL team.

Probably will in the summer.

so you are defending xavi by saying team is not good enough, but on the other hand you put down 10 names that are non-transferable for any amount.

which one is it?

We would be hard-pressed not to consider selling Frenkie for 120m or something.

Madrid for example timed the Casemiro sale perfectly.

Now if we're back on 4:1 though, the money wouldn't go very far for a replacement.

But for the short term, steadying the books would be very useful, while it being arguable that after winning LaLiga this season that we can go next season without it- as long as we pass the group stage of that damn CL.

Yeah, it makes little sense to sell Frenkie, even for a large sum when we can't spend much for a replacement or better (IF we can get one). Offloading his wages won't make that much of a dent on the wage bill either.

We could still compete for LaLiga by selling Frenkie and signing Gundagon on a free, such is the state of the league.

Well, if he stays injury free that is.

Just giving an at worst example.

120 million is a lot of money if you can make good signings with it. Problem is, Barca's track record in that area is shaky.

Plus the salary he frees up too.

FDJ is Barcas best mid this season and Pedri is close.. not too much argument if folk think Pedri better as both get into just about any team in world.

Huge drop off to likes of Gavi/Kessie etc currently from FDJ and Pedri and to sell FDJ you get money but wont get as good a player and with FDJ/Pedri and a top DM you have up there as best mid in world with a balance.

There are plenty other players that could be sold before FDJ for good of team..the wingers and a CB for starters.

For FDJ a move would not be worst thing though.

Huh? There is no correlation between the two. Not unless you think a top squad means 8-10 good players, half of them youngsters.

What we need to do is keep our best players and add some more over that to improve the squad. That's self-explanatory really. Selling or losing our best players is basically moving in the opposite way and weakening the team, which in fact we should be looking to improve it by way of signing top players.

If we can't sign top players, then at least don't lose your best performers. De Jong and Dembele are not perfect or world class, but certainly among the 5 best players of this team.

As said, I'd be ok with keeping the same squad, selling 2-3 underperformers, and making some squad related transfers and maybe one potential starter signing in Gundogan who finishes his contract soon with City.

Casemiro is an oldie. Really not a similar case with De Jong.
