Big one sticks out is it being 100% of rights for 6m USD, while they asked 8m for 80% of rights from Brighton (and us).

Points to money passing under the table to get this one done.

For 6m @ 100% rights he would be at Brighton already, basically.

Probably just BS as don't think we'll actually be able to sign anyone but more potential "low-cost" DMs for January.

Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Joshua Guilavogui who are both free agents. And then two young Portuguese - Joao Neves (Benfica) and Dario Essugo (Sporting). Don't think any of them will be that cheap anyway knowing how their clubs usually sell.

Don't mind signing a young DM but should stay away from some random free agents. Better look for a short-term loan if Xavi really wants another DM and then address the position next summer.

That Benfica lad has benched Florentino Luis (who we previously been linked with) and will cost north of 50m.

But alas, a low cost DMC to replace the low cost DMC who replaced the Inter Miami DMC. Sounds marvelous.

Best bet is is we sign that Corinthians DMC for 30m and with a bit of luck we can register him in 2027 when he turns 20.

He's at Andorra. Saw in in pre-season and compared to Jandro was feckin horrible.

Let's bring back Jandro!

There was a time when the twatters thought he was better than Pedri, Gavi and all the La Masia mids, and that there was a conspiracy why he didn't play for the A. I think one of his supporters was on this forum, posting like we didn't know ball for not seeing it in Jandro. Can't remember who it was though.

With all the talk about FFP the club has mostly done what its wanted anyway  It's a pain in the ass for sure, but pretty much irrelevant so far.

Why would they need to pay under the table money? They aren't under FFP, or we are talking about a bribe to board members?
Feels like the club overestimated his value, when they publicly admitted they needed to sell him due to finances.
Today Turkish deadline, so no European option for him anymore. Now they are desperate for money and have few suitors

He could still decide he doesn't want to go to Qatar and there is not much his club could do in that case.

And if they were so desperate for money they could just arrange transfer for January with an interested European club.

Money to the President/board.

I don't think the European window would affect his move too much. South American players regularly move in the winter market to Europe as it is when their season is finished. So I don't think it is a case of Liverpool being that desperate to sell the player now for 6m.

I think it's more a case of the Qatari club offering a transfer fee without instalments and money going to the board to make it worth their while.

For Diaz himself, similar to Gabriel Veiga, he will make much more short term in Qatar than what was being offered in Europe. Let's see if he takes it or waits for winter as their have been rumours of both Barca and Brighton still interested in getting a deal ready for then.

He's gone for a big pay cheque. This will be even more prominent next season as the Saudis pick up more and more young players and of a higher level than Diaz, unfortunately.

It's remarkable that UEFA are so unworried by this. They are comparing the Saudi situation to China, which is unbelievably short sighted. Could not be any more different.

Football is slowly meandering itself towards oblivion and UEFA still think everything is hunky dory. They are in for a shock, real soon.

Linked to Arthur Vermeeren again. Probably because we'll play against his team next week.

He has the perfect profile for Barca DM, stylistically he is tailor made for possession DM.

His level is very questionable to me, very curious how he will perform in CL.

Super Santi Gimenez is a player who has gone under the radar a little, but another one definitely to watch out for. Would have loved him here if hadn't already invested in Roque.

He basically made Ajax fans tap out yesterday in Der Klassiker.
