Barcelona are considering the signing of Neiser Villarreal, the Colombian striker and top scorer of the U20 South American Championship. He could arrive at a low cost due to his contract situation with Millonarios. Deco and the sporting department are evaluating the move, with the idea of initially placing him in Barça Atlètic. @joaquimpiera

And here is a reason why he won't even consider joining us.

Another Money laundering scheme.

How so, he's a free agent end of the year, we wouldn't need to pay much to get him in summer.

Said he would go on loan if B go down.

That should be the move even if they stay up to be fair.

Looks like he is well off making any first team impact from those clips.

B could be good but would need a solid project with a serious coach. IIRC the B also relegated under Laporta the first time.

Exactly my point. I think over the years we've missed out on a lot of potential signings by offering them to play in BA rather than trying to look for loans in clubs playing on a higher level which would increase our odds for those players to sign with us.

Really think we should find a club (or a few of them) in Eredivisie, Primeira or Belgian Pro League (obviously not talking about the big three Dutch or Portuguese clubs or Anderlecht/Brugge but second level clubs from those leagues) where we could loan players who are above Barca Atletic level but not quite ready yet for La Liga. These leagues are still above Segunda A and some of those clubs could also be regularly playing in Europe (probably not CL, but UEL or at least UECL).

Ofc every player would need to be considered individually to find the best possible loan destination for his level and it would take some time for this system to start working but I think it's an option worth exploring. Probably won't happen though because we think we are still so unique players can't learn anything playing in a different system (and tbf with Flick we've gone away from of our usual taki tiki anyway).

But for me the most important thing for 18-19 year old kids is to play regularly at the level suitable to their current abilities (they won't improve much by playing at an inferior level and OTOH won't play much at a level they're not good enough yet). Players adapting to our system and finding the right position/role for them in some cases can also happen later. But you never get back minutes/playing experience you missed out on in early phase of your career. You can only improve so much in training.

It's not easy with the influence of greedy agents and parents. Well whose to say if we are the right option either.

B worked out well for guys like Araujo, while Fermin entered the first team squad after being on loan at Linares. So it's not one size fits all, but more about getting talented players with the will to come.

If we could make partnerships in Eredivise, Belgium or even Ligue1 then perhaps we can have partner club(s) who we incentivise with % of transfer rights for developing under certain conditions. Eg 10% transfer rights if play 60/70% of minutes each season for duration of loan.

Atleast that way we make the offer financially viable too.

We do that with Betis, and then fans get mad about it.

Doing it in Portugal seems like a good idea, but Barca appreciate developing players close from home so much
