They're not gonna be bought to play false 9's that's for sure. Maybe Tata wants a true striker option upfront, which is nice imo.

Especially when we rest Messi, it would be nice to have a qualified finisher upfront.

e.g.

--------------Cardozo---------------
-Neymar------Fabregas------Sánchez
----------Busquets--Xavi-------------

Its a terrible idea to let a player who will play once every month occupy such an important position in our team. Thats why only regular first teamers replace Messi (by being moved) when he is out.

I'm down with Kieslling, Cardozo, Costa any of these types. We just need someone who wants to accept the Larsson role. It's not once a month it may be weekly as a sub and starter against bus teams like Celtic, Milan, Real. They are also useful in defending a set piece due to their heading ability.

Why would we need a striker? Neymar, Alexis and Cesc can all play false nine. Better save up for a quality CB next summer.

Why not? our players are struggleing against teams which only park the bus and messi is against worldclass teams mostly under controll because they are stronger bigger and quick as him. As a small guy messi is perhaps the only one today who can play there other teams like bayern who tried with ribery götze failed because its very difficult to play there as a small guy. There is no danger in the air so its very easy to defend against a small guy in the middle area. We should buy a good striker and messi should play as a winger there is no future for him as a false nine its too predictiable to play him there.

Cardozo at barca  why don't you sign peter crouch while you are at it too  What is a big tall striker going to do in a team like barca that plays short passes the whole game and never crosses the ball, barca don't even put corners in the box, they even play those short, so whats the point of having a big striker...

Ter Stegen is the main option to replace Valdes. Among other options: Reina, De Gea, Courtois, Guaita, Casilla, Diego Alves, Guzman. [md]

Plan B against parked buses of course. We only need a Larsson type of player who will accept a such role.

What about Chicharito ??
Being a sub at Barca (second sub behind Messi) is better than being one at Utd (third or four behind rvp, rooney and welbeck).
If Tata really wants a cf I think that Chicha is the best option actually.

messi is pretty much never injured, so that is not really true is it, chicharito would probably play less at barca, the united team gets rotated far more then the barca team, messi always plays when fit. why would chicharito go to another club to sit on the bench again, if he moves he'll want a starting place...

Terrible idea is right. Barca has clearly already found the alternative to Messi: Neymar is fantastic in the middle for this team. Right now, the passing among the Barca forwards is the best I have ever seen for any front line. Plus they are all doing a fine job finishing, though Neymar will improve as he gets more comforatable and his teammates look for him more.

This year, the forwards are the strongest part of the team, which is really saying something given the talent level of this midfield. Don't mess with success. The Plan B will arrive soon enough, for right now Dongou is not quite ready.

Meh, we have won all our games so far and pretty much all of them parked the bus. Just because we win, doesnt mean that the team we beat didnt park the bus!

Compact defending is not parking the bus. Parking the bus is what Chelsea and Inter did. Cant call every team who are a bit overly defensive as parking the bus IMO.

I think a lot of you are seriously undervaluing the great asset that is having a true area 9. Aside from the obvious fact that this team only has one natural goal scorer in Messi (neither Neymar yet, nor Alexis or Pedro, are natural goal scorers), having a true area 9 on the team gives a humongous amount of space to both Messi and Neymar. It creates a direct dimension to the attack of the team for select encounters where directness is superior to possession.

There are only 3 issues with getting this type of player. Money, willingness to accept a secondary role, and talent. If you can find a talented player, that will not break your bank and is willing to accept coming of the bench and non guaranteed minutes, there is absolutely no question a player like this will improve the team.

Imagine only a team planning to play against the standard Barca formation with the trusty parked bus strategy. It works like a charm for 1 half of football, then suddenly, Barca spring you with a physical area 9 to release Messi and Neymar and proceed to completely throw all your plans out the window.

Thats hogwash. By that definition, we will always struggle against parked buses since you have just made the definition that require us to struggle to penetrate for it to be called parked bus...lol

THIS.

No one here remember past years when we had Villa (before his injury), Ibrahimovic and Eto'o ? They were creating a lot of space for the wingers and against a team like Chelsea or PSG, I think that it's very interesting to have a real , tall and strong 9 who can help us when we are defending (freekicks and corners) and attacking against parked bus.
Anyway, we'll see if all those rumours are bullshit in january or not but I think that it can only be positive if we buy a cf.
