Yup :beer2:Allright, I'm starting to warm up to the thought of getting Rakitic a lot now. That Real Madrid clip helped a lot...
If he comes, he should be welcomed with open arms and supported.
Getting Rakitic would be a very good move. He works like a machine. In one of our games this season he closed down and dispossessed Iniesta around his own corner flag like a fullback and also went on to score a goal upfront. He scored in Camp Nou, Bernabeu and Calderon this season. Very complete midfielder. Not a throughball specialist like Cesc but better at many other facets of the game that are more important. Rakitic and Rafinha = instant improvement in pressing, height, physicality and general off the ball play. Now also buy a senior defender and we're fine.
I'm not quite as sold yet. He does have a very high workrate (obviously not as much as Gabi who runs >11km even with a cracked rib ) and will help out on all areas of the pitch, but at Sevilla he's never been in a very passing oriented team. He excels with long balls, set pieces, and vertical back/forth runs but I've yet to see him thrive in a system that requires positional awareness and a quick passing tempo. I'm not saying he can't just because he plays at Sevilla but he's always seemed to be a little slow on his release of the ball to me.
And Cesc is? He isn't displacing Iniesta and doesn't have the required qualities for the floating pivot neither is he gonna replace Messi at false 9 so where do you want him to play CB?I hope we don't replace Cesc with Rakitic. He is not good enough to be a regular starter at Barca.

The pace of releasing the ball is adequate not the fastest but not too slow either although I like it more than Cesc try to pass the ball to the forward line haphazardly as if its a bomb. (Maybe I hate Cesc to much and thats making me too biased but I probably wont believe you if you told me that)
You are dreaming of you think Rakitic or Rafinha are close to the player Cesc is. The only benefit is that they may be happier with supporting roles.
I think you just hate fabregas.
Cesc is overall a much better player than Rakitic. It would've been a good decision to sell him if the replacement we were buying was better than him but in this case its not. Just because we're getting Rakitic at cheap price is not a good enough reason to buy him. He will fail at Barca and we will be left with aging Xavi for 2 seasons coz of the transfer ban..And Cesc is? How does Rakitic fit in Barca??much better player isn't the argument here I agree Cesc is better but we don't need a better player we need a better fit for the team and thats where I like Rakitic over Cesc
How does Rakitic fit in Barca??
What about vision, awareness, control and passing??? He lacks in all these fields..For one thing he can run and is much more mobile than Cesc.
