Barcelona's next right back?

Who should Barcelona's next right back be?

I think we can all agree that the right back position is a serious weakness for the team now. Alves still provides the odd good moment in attack but these are becoming less frequent and he is a shadow of what he once was. Adriano is a decent player but gets injured every 2nd game. Lucho doesn't trust Montoya and Douglas is Douglas.

Who do you think Barcelona's next right back should be? There are very few obvious candidates out there. If you think of the world's top full backs, most of them are nearing their 30s and pretty indispensable to their clubs; Ivanovic, Juanfran, Lahm, Piszczek, Zabaleta etc.

Of the younger players out there, Danilo and Seamus Coleman seem like the two obvious options to me. They both are known for their attacking prowess but both would cost a fortune (especially Danilo) and although I'd love it, I just don't see Barcelona signing an Irish full back.

Then there's the option of converting Bartra or Adama to a full back which wouldn't be ideal.

Are there any other options you can think of? I've left out some of the players that I've mentioned above because they would be pretty impossible to sign. We mightn't even be able to sign someone this summer due to the transfer ban but I think it's an interesting discussion anyway.

It's a bit of a messed up situation, especially as we're looking towards having Douglas and Adriano next season, on a position which is already weak enough as it is.

Our best bet is CAS somehow cutting our ban to one transfer window thus allowing us to buy in Summer - AND have this board OUT, because these guys are only gonna make matter worse by either buying a dud again or not buying anyone at all, because they just are that incompetent and corrupt.

I think there will be some new names in summer of 2016, we'll be chasing someone named Lucas Pereira or Daniel Costa, he is going to be Brazilian of course.

Change Formation. thats the only realistic option until 2016. I dont see how we will win anything if we are going to play every game with 10 men.

If we are to revert to a more balanced back 4 - Bartra. Imo. he is simply too weak to handle strong forwards in center of defense. He does have a decent speed and is determined enough to be our Abidal on the right side.

If we are to carry on with current tactics, then signing Cuardado is an obvious option. With Lucho's midfielders babysitting it would work.

If I could recommend a player to our board it would be someone who satisfies both of those options. 22 y.o. Sime Vrsaljko is having his 2nd season in Serie A (Genoa,Sassuolo) and is already considered among the best wing/backs in the league. (He was sold to Sassuolo this summer for a meager sum because Genoa schemed a sale where they won't be forced to pay a big selling clause to Dinamo). Expect him to go back Genoa soon and possibly somewhere else next season.

Barcelona are among the clubs following Levante right back Ivan Lopez (21). Buyout fee around 10M, contract until 2016. [las provincias]

Voted for Bartra before I remembered Godswill. :(

Godswill just came back from and injury and by the looks if it I don't think he'll get much playing time under Eusebio. Atleast not right now. Would need to see how he takes the B Team level although he is a very talented player.

I was thinking of voting for either Danilo or Coleman but I don't think either are realistic targets unless we really want to splash out. I went for 'other' just because it's probably the most likely option.

There is no good video of Danilo on Youtube. Many people suggest him but I've never seen him play. Anyone who can give me some information about him?

From what I know he was a box-to-box midfielder during his Santos days and later converted to right back. He offers very good physicality, is fast, strong, good stamina and workrate. Don't know really how good he is technically, but not too bad. Also he's Brazilian, therefore he suits Barca's style.
