Tell me if i'm wrong since you're brazilian, but here they said there's no special hype about him. It's just scolari liking him and that's all.
Absolutely, Scolari who is incessantly stubborn was simply picking players due to loyalty and personal affiliation. Lucas Moura, struggled for Brazil when picked BUT his chances were much like what Willian got in this WC. A 10minute cameo here, a 15 minute run out there. Scolari just looked for an excuse to get rid, basically.

It was unfortunate because Moura, for all his faults is a potential game changer with incredible speed. You back young players like that, not shun them. He could have also introduced players such as Coutinho and Firminho.

@Truthist: I don't have the time to translate it all, but Blanc announced yesterday that he believes Lucas will become one of the best wingers this upcoming season.

And i agree with you scolari just used poor excuses to get rid of him. It was exactly like that at the confed cup last year. TBH, and while it's sad because Brazilians didn't want it to end like that, it will serve marquinhos and lucas to not have been part of this debacle.

Pretty much. He chooses players he likes, not based on form. Or Fred, Jo and others wouldn't be there.
That's where Scolari failed imo.

He deliberately made choices that were not in the best interest of Brazil if they wanted to win the WC.

coutinho > bernard-oscar-hulk

That too.

Hulk is another overrated player.

And Oscar, beside his first match did horrible, yet is given a pass by most medias i read beside the french ones today that are tackling him to no end since he never has been able to link midfield and attack. When Neymar was playing, he did all the job alone while Oscar was wandering like a ghost.

Every touch Hulk has usually ends up in either conceding possession or a goal kick for the opposition. Yet the blind faith shown in him beggared belief. Scolari has a lot to answer for the merits of selecting this awful squad. Why did Diego Alves never get a shot? The debacle of Diego Costa rings of Scolari's favouritism.

Brazil needs a good hard look at itself. It has fallen behind Europe, it always was tactically but now even technically which should be a serious concern for Brazilian football.

@Bertus: I agree with Blanc, the potential is absolutely there, he just needs to iron out a few glaring weaknesses in his game. He's not that far below Neymar IMHO and that blinding pace, that near wonder goal against Marseille was a sight to behold.

Lucas Moura had difficulties to adapt to how football is played here in Europe.

Lots of time it was like he was playing alone. He was not passing at the right time. He was trying to dribble too much. And worse of all, he wasn't defending while we know that now in modern football, the first defenders are the players from the attacking front.

But it really started to change last year under Laurent Blanc. Lucas had an amazing last part of the season. He passes at the right time and his crosses are amazing. It resulted in him getting many assists.

It really made no sense to not pick him to the WC since he was at the top of his form.

But check DL thread, i posted a thing about Scolari. Scolari doesn't want to admit he did it wrong.

Hope the new Brazil coach will pick both Lucas and Marquinhos.

Bertus: Thanks for the heads up. Has Lucas ever played through the centre, I'm just wondering if his strong running could be of use there because he has a powerful shot on him too. I've heard a lot about Marquinhos but I've never really seen him play. As a defender, does he resemble anyone you can think of?

About Lucas:

- Actually that was one of his problems. He was running through the centre while Carlo, then Blanc asked him to run along the sideline.
- Now he does it less often and concentrate on providing good crosses.
- He still makes use of his powerful shot from time to time, but he still lacks some accuracy ;)

About Marquinhos:

- The closest example that he resembles to is TS.
- They both have the same height.
- Both are fast and good in the air despite being 183cm only.
- Their positioning are good.
- The two big differences is that Marquinhos make some mistakes due to the lack of experience.
- The second difference is that Marquinhos can have brainfarts under pressure, but it's due too, imo, to his lack of experience.
- Yet, he did only 5-6 mistakes last year over nearly 30 matches he played. He's only 20yo. He's really promising.
