From 97 - 00 he definitely was. Then it was Redondo, then it was Makelele then JM.

Fernando Redondo was my favourite DM, but his best moments weren't in the last decade so you can't really say him, but he was the pure definition of what a DM should be.

The way he schooled the mancs will forever live on in memory
