Manuel Neuer (by a distance). He cost 20 million, but that's a low price for making your defense almost unbreachable, Bayern have kept 12 clean sheets in a row. Also, Neuer is 25 and the best keeper in the world, in the long term this transfer will look even more of a bargain than it already does.

He had one year left of his contract but otherwise I agree that it was a brilliant transfer.

Sorry, but Bayern's clean sheets have nothing to do with Neuer. How many saves did he need to make this season? Did it even reach double figures? € 20 million for a goalkeeper who was on his last year of contract should even be considered expensive.
The best signing by far is Nuri Sahin. € 10 million for one of the finest midfield prospects in world football. Real Madrid really stole him and Özil.

yep Sahin is immense, the only problem is that he couldn't play yet, but I have a conviction he will be awesome. Hope he recovers completely soon.
Looking back at some deals like...Pjanic, and Sahin ...massive steals.

So you're suggesting that for 12 consecutive matches teams didn't manage to create chances against Bayern? They must be the best team of all-time then. He might not have as much work to do as he did at Schalke but he's superb whenever called upon. What you said would be like saying Valdés has nothing to do with Barca's current streak of clean sheets.
20 million was necessary. Neuer is the best keeper in the world, if Bayern didn't bid very high, some other club, namely United, would have outbid them. 20 million for the best goalkeeper in the world who happens to be just 25 is awesome business. They have that post set for the next 10-15 years.
Uh, how we could have used him. With Ibi out for a season and Alexis missing 2 months already I bet he would have gotten plenty of chances.

I'm not denying his quality. But it's a fact that Neuer had very little to do so far. Can't bother searching the numbers but he barely touched the ball since he joined Bayern. And yes, Valdes had very little to do with our current streak of clean sheets as well. How many saves did he have to make? There was not a single shot on target in our last match for example (and yet the most dangerous situation towards our goal came through miscommunication between Valdes and Alves when they bumped into each other).
They couldn't because Neuer expressed he didn't want to leave Germany. Not leaving Germany and not signing a new contract with Schalke = inevitably joining Bayern. There is no other club big enough for him in Germany than Bayern. Everyone knew that. So if Bayern waited another season, they would have gotten him for free. By no means was that transfer one of the best of the season. Our signing of Cesc for € 29 million + € 5 million bonuses is even better by a countrymile. And Sahin for € 10 million is the steal of the season.
