.....as a false 9 of course :mou:

If all goes well with the final stages of Messi's recovery, this might be the last time we see him at false 9 for a while.

People make too much of an issue at of this. It is less than ideal, but playing Cesc as a forward gives more playing time to all our midfield. If Cesc were playing exclusively as a midfielder, then Sergi Roberto and Song would not have played much at all this year, and people would be whining and bitching for that.

It still doesn't make up things mate, one doesn't change the another fact. That Fabregas over and over again is proven that can't play as false 9. You're right that it makes way for other players but still in the end result our attack looks weak with him playing there so. Giving space for other players isn't so big problem as the fact that he can't perform in that position and we struggle for goals or anything.

It's a poor solution, but who else is going to play there? I don't like Neymar as an every day CF, he lacks the strength and movement. He'll have 1 good performance followed by a few poor ones. Alexis is also less than ideal, he lacks a good first touch and has balance issues. He'll also will have up and down performances as a CF. Cesc at least plays well centrally. He can drop deeper throughout the course of the game and provide balls forward.
I know he it is not an ideal situation, but the main problem is this team just does not have any player that can play CF efficiently outside of Messi.

I see it as the team has a lack of CF problem. Cesc playing there is one inefficient attempted solution out of possible 3, the other being Neymar and Alexis. Thing is, none of those 3 solutions are ideal. We can debate which is better or worse, but bottom line they all end up lacking.

At least Cesc playing there allows rotations in the midfield.

1 assist, 1 goal (penalty not counting). Another disgraceful performance as false 9. :VdB:
He had a very good game but all these you are mentioning don't go by the false 9 standard. The assist came from a position where someone in front of him in our case Pedro provided the assist. The bashing about false 9 comes in comparison with how Messi plays there or that Cesc is slow, not movable etc...
