Really lucky that we play Atalanta at home, they haven't let in a single goal with a defender called Djimsiti dominating.

All the rest of our games,
Brest H
Dortmund A
Benfica A
Atalanta H

are super challenging (even Brest is not the easy peasy that some think)

But if I have to pick one as the most challenging, certainly Gasperini's Atalanta

Brest are usually soft but this time they look like a firm test.

It's a pretty even level of opponents with 3 being in top 10 currently except Benfica who are also tough. Unusual to think we'll be playing CL until end of January.

In theory we would need 16p (we have 9p now) to finish top 8. We should of course win all 4 games but perhaps it's better to step off the gas and prioritize keeping players fresh at the expense of not winning that comfortably.

At the same time our recently injured players will have reached full form soon plus the returns of Chris and Araujo should enable us to be highly competitive despite rotating.

Nah, those away games are tricky as ****. Id say Dortmund the hardest. Then either Benfica away or Atalanta. Historically we have been okay Vs Benfica. Not great. Good chance for a draw.

Barca isn't very good away historically, although the current team feels stronger than previous teams.

I think we have to start giving credit that the French sides after PSG in that they are probably a stronger test than the LaLiga sides below the trio of hegemony. If purely for their physicality and pressing which few in LaLiga can bring or sustain.

Lille beating both Madrids, Monaco beating us and Brest being undefeated. These results are not by accident.

I see his point but I still prefer 8 games against unique teams than the ultra-protected bollocks the old format was, where you played three teams two times each.

It was far easier for the bigger clubs in the previous format. Now only 8 clubs are guaranteed to go straight into the last 16 - half the clubs and it shakes things up a bit, especially as lesser teams can get an 'easier' schedule than big teams.

I said this would be a good system in replacing the stale system of the past. I still believe that. However, the real test will come when THIS format becomes familiar three or four seasons down the line. Right now it is novel.

I like it, though.

I thought the new format would suck, but I like it so far. Much better for the neutrals, each matchday there is one really good game.
Yeah. Robbie wouldn't be moaning if it suited Arsenal.

The new AFTV is horrendous. Boring bunch and Robbie doesn't have the entertainment value of DT or Troopz to carry the channel. No more meltdowns.
