I Predict a 2-1 win from Barcelona, with Barca's goals coming from Iniesta and Eto'o, and man utd goal come from a ronaldo penalty which he dived to get as usual....

Fantastic tribute to Sir Matt planned for Rome

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Manchester United have been given special dispensation by UEFA to turn one half of Rome's Olympic Stadium in to a stunning tribute to the late Sir Matt Busby before next Wednesday's Champions League Final against Barcelona.

After discussions with European football's governing body, Sir Alex Ferguson and his players will walk out before the game to be greeted by a 16,000 piece mural covering the whole of the Curva Nord that will pay tribute to Busby, who would have been 100 years old the day before the final.

The mosaic - held up by United's travelling fans - will spell out 'For Sir Matt' and will include a stunning portrait of the man from whom Ferguson and his players have always taken much of their inspiration.

It is destined to become one of the lasting images of a final that could yet see United become the first team to defend the trophy in its modern form.

United chief executive David Gill has confirmed that the plan - that came courtesy of the Stretford End Flags Group - and said: "We wanted to do something to mark Sir Matt's 100th birthday and we were approached by the fans with an idea that would recognise the role he had played in the club's unique place in Europe.

'Alex liked the idea straight away. The mosaic will remind millions of people around the world what a great man Sir Matt was.'

Busby won the club its first European Cup in 1968 and died in 1994. United won the Cup for the second time on what would have been his 90th birthday, May 26, 1999.

He was manager of United for 24 years - retiring in 1969 - and was recognised as the greatest boss the club had had until Ferguson began piling up the trophies.

United have invited Busby's son Sandy and daughter Sheena to be the club's guests in Rome and attend a dinner with the club's directors on Tuesday evening.

Sandy Busby said: 'It's going to be really heart-rending when the mosaic is lifted up and I'm sure there are going to be a few tears from my sister and myself.

'My dad would have been so proud and pleased. He was a sentimental man and he would be absolutely delighted that the fans still remember him with such affection and still sing songs in his honour but this is something else — he will be the proudest man in heaven.'

that mosaic sounds great.

so united are in the lazio end and we're in the roma end, hm?

iiiinteresting!

(also when you see rivals like roma/lazio and milan/inter share stadiums you haveta wonder why liverpool and everton can't just be sensible and build a shared ground on stanley park).

I have a good feeling about this .. it's our year ..
United had their year in 1999 ..

I have the same feeling about Barca this year that I had about ManU in 99 ..

Fair play, absolutely brilliant idea! As regards to Barça fans travelling over, I actually haven't go a clue what they might have planned. Whatever it may be, they'll be hard-pressed to match an extraordinary tribute like this!

nothing more than conjecture, but this guy seems to think he knows, and he was right about the uefa cup final ref.

Thanks very much for that Heath. This guy seems to know what he is talking about and oddly knows alot about Referees. And he was right about Uefa Cup Final. I thought it would have been an Italian though to be honest, considering there would be no restrictions to an Italian referee doing a game between English and Spanish sides and also due to the similar level of football that they would also ref in their league as it is on a similar level to Spanish and English football.

That looks excellent. I hope our club has organised something similar, as we do in the Nou Camp on special ocassions, it would really set off the final in perfect fashion.

I walk the line
Did anyone tune in to sky sports news yesterday to catch the press conference? I watched it for 2 hours and the only thing they mentioned was this:

"Barcelona midfielder Andrayas Iniesta believes he will be fit for the Champions League final. The player who has a thigh injury announced on his website that he will be fit to start the final."

Thats it. Yet they spent twenty minutes filming floyd mayweather's CAR.
