Champions League, in my opinion, shows more flowing football with skills because the teams have been together for at least a year. World Cup, however, is just about winning at any cost, which can include diving and faking.

The World Cup may be the highest honour in football...and the greatest achievement for a player to achieve....but the gulf in quality between the two-in favour of the CL of course-is stupendous....it would not be an exaggeration to assert that the WC is a mickey mouse competition compared to the CL....

you won't find people stuck to their seats watching football everyday for a whole month
the nationalistic feelings as well (those coming from strong footballing countries will know what i mean ) is high all month , people talk, breath football , go home early for a match and it's not something that will feel odd as you will find your managers and co-workers doing the same thing, streets are empty during your national team game
there is a big difference between 30 Million people cheering one team and a few thousands cheering their club
rival fans unit to cheer their national football team , there is no United,Liverpool,Chelsea there is England for example
celebration if England won is not exclusive to Manchester red half but through out their country
The football displayed in the World cup is higher , you have managers from all over the world , you have teams that have several stars in them from all over the world
the tactic are varied and totally different (u can barely find 3 countries play the same way ) , the motivation of the players is different .. the feeling is different , the cheering is different
CL doesn't bring any of this , there is no competition between the world cup and the annual Champions league trophy... no contest
which Champions league will have the two finalist last year crash out in the first stage ? which CL will find all the English sides out from the first group stage , which CL will see the 3 WPOY of the last 3 years out before you reach the final 4 ?
plus look at the number of new stars introduced and make their names
it's a KO win for the World cup and from the first round , hell from the first minute

As an experience,the WC,through its universality,diversity and intensity....is more treasured than the CL.....but simply in terms of the level of football being displayed...the CL is vastly superior. A club nurtures the players together for years....has a suitable as possible a player in each position....and the very biggest of them...buy the very top players and keep them in peak condition for as much possible....until the WC comes up by which time they are completely drained...

I beg to differ , even the level of football is superior (most of the time ) a big chunk of the tactical workbook was introduced in the WC's like the 3-5-2 in 86 with Argentina , the 4-3-3 of Brazil's 1970..etc
you don't even globalize the formation until you play with in in the world cup, with all due respect to Ajax but the total football became a global phenomena in WC 1974
without the world cup Pele would have stayed a local player the world (outside South America ) know nothing about .

I agree with what you are saying(I didn't know the bit about the 3-5-2 btw)
But I think what Gnegneri is here saying,is that if let's say in the year 2010...anyone of Barca,Madrid,Man U,Inter or Arsenal faced these national sides of today....it would be a bloodbath...in favour of the big European Club of course....

To answer the specific question, I think the WC offers the highest level of football. It's quite an honor for your country to choose you as one of the best 23, really only true stars play here, whereas in CL there will still be teams with average players on them, but 1 or 2 stars which carry them to the CL or other factors like level of teamwork etc. So the WC in my opinion offers the biggest honor any footballer could ask for. Also at this stage, great players that have not been recognized (usually because the team they play for isn't a big club and so it's not a household name) are finally getting the recognition they deserve - I for one am happy that Forlan is being recognized, for all his past success (Pichichi, European Golden Boot, Europa League) he was still massively underrated up until now.
And also like Beast says it forces people to sit down and watch football for a month which is a big deal over here when usually nobody cares. Gonna be sad when the WC is over because I'll have to go back to having next to no one in real life to talk about football with

Throwing teams that just don't know how to work together is a death wish for the team. In the CL these teams have worked together many times before and they know how to employ teamwork and strategies. So while the WC is the highest level of football imo and there are many reasons arguing for it, the CL often sees better football being played simply because of a team's cohesiveness - it's not just the stars that make the teams CL teams, but also teamwork, familiar tactics, the coach, many factors.
So it's a tough argument really, it all depends on specifics. But to answer the specific question the poll asks, the WC definitely.

quality of football is much higher in the champions league but i love the world cup its a special thing very romantic i think if cyprus ever qualified i would explode just the thought of it is exciting me now 
....plus i love the fact that theres football all day for the first couple of weeks i look forward to the world cup for years

yup exactly. cos no offence but in Wc, not the best players are competing but nations.
look at the amount of world class players that have never played a single WC, ryan giggs, keita, etc.
