By your logic, we can only compare apples to apples if we progress to the exact same stage in all competitions in both seasons and play the same or very similar opponents at each stage. There's no way this comparison can be done?

I can't convince you if that's the case. I tried my best to be minimally biased (keeping aside the Dortmund and Inter games for instance) but this is shaping up to be a Serghei/Wolfe type debate and I don't think there is much use in proceeding forward.

I think it was biased for the reasons already given.

And, like I said, at least I would compare the teams at the same point in time i.e. before QF, SF and Finals.

If we get knocked out by Bayern on Friday, it does not mean that 19/20 Barca is a better team against big opponents than 12/13 Barca. (2/12 vs 2/8 according to your stats). It just means 12/13 managed to reach farther in different competitions and yet is "punished" for it in your analysis.

No Barca is worse than the 07/08 Barca

Lol, that side was heavily inconsistent, but good enough to make possibly the best Manchester United side ever to park the bus on their home ground. On a given day they could've beaten any team in the world.

12-13 Barcelona

Barcelona 3-2 RM (Supercopa)
Barcelona 1-2 RM (Supercopa)
Barcelona 2-2 RM
Barcelona 1-2 RM
Barcelona 1-1 RM
Barcelona 1-3 RM
Barcelona 4-1 AM
Barcelona 2-1 AM
Barcelona 0-2 Milan
Barcelona 4-0 Milan

4 W in 10 games.

For maximum fairness, I will include Benfica

Barcelona 2-0 Benfica
Barcelona 0-0 Benfica

5 W, 3 D, 4 L in 12 games

21 goals scored, 16 goals conceded (S/C ratio of ~1.3)

Barcelona 2-3 AM (Supercopa)
Barcelona 1-0 AM
Barcelona 0-0 RM
Barcelona 0-2 RM
Barcelona 2-2 AM
Barcelona 1-1 Napoli
Barcelona 3-1 Napoli
Barcelona 0-0 Dortmund
Barcelona 3-1 Dortmund
Barcelona 2-1 Inter
Barcelona 2-1 Inter

5 W, 4 D, 2 L in 11 games.

16 goals scored, 12 conceded. (S/C ratio of 1.33).

Even your way of looking at it supports this Barca being better than 12/13, contrary to blanket statements like Pedro > Griezmann or current Messi maybe > injured Messi 12/13.

Fair enough, I am okay with that. With the caveat that it supports this Barca being better just in big games.

Okay, I can agree with that. The performance against lower teams was never in dispute. 12/13 crushed them. We struggle for whatever reason now.

I remember myself as a kid traveling for the first time to Barcelona to watch a classico game and watch my idol at the time, Ronaldinho. That kid was crushed and shocked .. Ronaldinho was horrendous and that game was the most boring classico I can recall; 1-0 for Madrid Julio Baptista scored the goal.

This is good but I'd play Ansu straight up instead of Suarez. I'll always LOVE Luisito  but he's just to slow to beat that high line Bayern defense. Play him and I guarantee you at least 6 off-sides. And if no offside, he'll always get beaten on the sprints.

Only way he scores is on a rebound via his quick reactions and WC instincts or on a perfectly weighted pass where he's already in a position to strike. Playing the other Fati gives you higher scoring opps

I agree with you but I'm being realistic with the lineup knowing that QS is just like EV a coward and will definitely start with Suarez. I just hope he will sub him as earliest for Fati or even Dembele.

Busquets De Jong Roberto midfield would do. The single sign of us losing this game is for Vidal to be a starter.
