CL Quarter Final: Barca - PSG 1-4

De jong at CB would have been a disaster TBH.

Only other sub could have been Martinez for pedri

But Xavi probably wanted 1 more player who could keep what little of the ball we would have when we are in possession.

Just a long list of bad choices, I can understand the reasoning behind the sub he made.

As soon as Araujo was red carded I knew it was game over. We would probably have some shaky moments even with the 2 goal cushion with 11 men but down to 9? (Lewa, although giving his best, is another man down)

Sickening defeat.
Well yes and no. Cancelo really f up and Lewandowski missed 2 clear chances. We need a better striker and DM for sure, maybe a winger because Yamal is still young. Probably Fort and Faye should be integrated

We can hold our heads high even though we are disappointed.

We conceded 6 goals against PSG, and 4 came when we were down to 10 men, 1 was a lucky shot by Dembele that wouldn't have done in if he didn't slip while taking it.

Scored 4, created enough opportunities to create 7.

Some said we couldn't compete against elite teams in Europe, we prove that narrative wrong.

Would have been great to make the final, but shit happens.

At least we are sure Lewandowski needs to go and Cancelo. We are helpless and Raphinha and Yamal gave hope to a suffering team.

For me, it was not like as if Martinez was doing great anyways and we needed to conserve the # of subs to replace those who are tired.

Or better yet, maybe restructure to something like this

Cancelo, Kounde, Cubarsi, Raphinha---Yamal, Gundo, FDJ, Pedri---Lewy

Just a gutted day overall. Hopefully Dortmund wins the whole thing.

Three things need to happen:

1) Terminate Roberto's contract and get him the fuck out as captain, Give the armband to someone worthy like Gundogan.
2) Get Xavi out as soon as possible and have the new manager come in - The more time the new manager has the better.
3) Hopefully some candidates start appearing and campaigning against Laporta this summer. Need this fat walking ball of diabetes out of this club asap in 2026.

Nobody calls "Lewy" out so this team is heading full mediocrity ahead. For fucks sake he missed 4 clear chances in 2 games, that is absolutely Getafe level. And don't tell me he won duels because there are tons of strikes who can do that. It's too little
You can't play with a kid a decent winger and a striker who only hinders oponents at best. It's ludicrous and Xavi f up.
And Fermin should have been on the field. We needed a strong midfield.

Martinez done enough. Dembele goal was on nobody but you can point at Cancelo if you wantto point, Vitinha goal was on Gundogan because FDJ left a space that needed to be filled and nobody was there, the penalty Cancelo, the last one Kounde hit Fermin so I will put it on Kounde but he was our best player and already tired.

For me, Martinez didn't give me confidence. Yes, he wasn't involved in all those goals and I do agree with the personnel that you pointed fingers at, but felt that Martinez sub could and should have been used more wisely. Especially, at the expense of taking out Yamal.

Yamal was taken at the expense of Lewandowski or Raphinha. What has to do Inigo with?
He could have moved Fort in for Fort, Kounde, Cubarsi, Cancelo, but Fort is not good on the right so more sane Cancelo, Cubarsi, Kounde, Fort. But Koundeis not that good CB and made a huge game as fullback. The only question is keeping Lewandowski or Raphinha instead of Yamal.

By the way we played very well considering we are a clown team in attack for what we expect from Barcelona. 3-1 is not that bad in 10.
4-1 was due to Xavi actually making some sane moves. I was really impressed and we did pressure them
The fans are more bad than the team, lost hope after 2-1 3/4 out of them

Why do we crumble UCL? its been the case for the past 6-8 years. Even if we are the best team we still lose. Yesterday we just came out like it was a defeat and we were trying to cut our losses. We need something that changes this defeatist mentality we have in our club.

It's the mentality. Unless you have a strong manager and clear out some of the seniors nothing will change. Ter Stegen, Lewandoski, Roberto, R
omeu need to go. For the right price Araujo, Raphinha, De Long and maybe Kounde too.
We may as well cash in and play the youngsters and pick up some bargains along the way.
It's time to get a good manager and let him build. Leverkusen and Xabi are good examples for us.
