Look, doesn't matter they were 11th in the league a few rounds ago or this is their third manager this season (including interim), all it takes is a moment of lapse from the backline (Araujo vs Bayern last year or Araujo vs Girona recently) to make this tie difficult and the second leg tremendous. Dortmund were able to knock out PSG in last year's SF. Heading into the first leg of every KO tie is a new start and opportunity.

This stage of the CL is still new grounds for basically... everybody in the squad bar Lewandowski (and the recovering ter Stegen). Frenkie was a couple minutes away from the final with Ajax, but it's been a long time. Even the majority of the squad couldn't make something out of the EL.

I think the Real Betis was a good reminder to the team that they don't have everything, all the time. They have had many great trials this season in contested and stalemated matches until the very end. I trust their mentality is very strong, but the ability to manage the backline the entire 90+ minutes is no way guaranteed. For me, Iñigo must start if he's ready, which the latest report indicates so.

They deserve respect - they're a big European club, just under the usual elite group historically and in general. They have good players and fast attackers who can cause anyone a problem on their day.

I think Barcelona will win at home tomorrow, but the Westfalenstadion isn't usually an easy place to go for anyone. They have been up and down from what I know of them this season, but in big CL games form can go out of the window and at this point ties are normally close.

Comments from one or two people like Barca are gonna hammer them are arrogant and overconfident, as a few lads have said already. Maybe it will turn out that way but Flick and the lads are hopefully a lot more professional than to underestimate a great German club with a respectable history and current quality of player.

This thread could be renamed too as they aren't the only Borussia.

good post, I feel the same. But I'm sure the team doesn't underestimate them, especially with Flick at the helm.

I hope the team can focus on this game alone. Easy to sway away and think about Inter or Bayern in SF and that there probably won't be a Clasico final.

Get the job done. I have faith in Flick to keep everyones heads at proper level.

Like for real, why cant we just watch both games. Very stupid of them. And this 21:00h schedule is fucking stupid. Hopefully they put games in 19:00h, thats the best time.
I guess they're thinking about the fans going to the stadiums and coming from work etc. Much easier to get there for later than earlier. I know some games are on earlier but they wanna minimise that later in the competition - there's no 5.45 pm (UK time) for the EL second legs next week either.

I think it's 9 in central Europe because (and it isn't fair) the UK gets a lot of preference from UEFA and other logistics, and 8 pm UK time seems a good time to kick off for UK TV audiences. Like I say unfair, but UK gets a lot of favouritism in this scheduling sort of thing. 8 is not as early as 7 but not as late as 9.

Yeah, because of them cunts it might be. Well, we can give them that because they invented the damn thing afterall. 20:00 would be good too

Central Europe are used to 9pm CET and 9.30CET kickoffs anyways so it works out well for Spain, Italy and England.

Early KO is probably more about televisions rights and international markets.
