Cristiano Ronaldo - v1

Lost both clasicos, still 3rd.

So? They lost both clasicos and still got the same points as Barca, which means the attitude conveyed by the 'goals win games' post you replied to is as relevant as whatever Barca are doing to get points.

Well, it took 92 minutes, extra-time and a really tired atletico. I think that's what he meant.

An accident that they managed to score in the legal time within a game that they dominated? An accident that they beat the reigning champions 5-0 on aggregate?

lol

I don't really get the point, when I answered back to xavisionary then was to point to just that. Barça is scoring, is 1st, but somehow rm is better? Last season without valdes, pique for a good part, with pinto in goal and all, and rm finishing behind is something. Not the other way around.

They also almost lost to dortmund and got out. Luck galore there and vs atletico, any way you look at it. I think that's what seghei meant with "accident". Bayern they thrashed, surely.

?? I don't think he ever meant to include Barca in the conversation. He said 'goal win matches' because people were talking about how Ronaldo gets cheap goals and penalties and doesn't playmake.

Well this sounds like a terrible 'accident'. I suppose Barca winning the CL was also an accident given they had to be bailed out by Mascherano in the last minute vs Arsenal? Not to mention the disaster at Stamford Bridge in 2009. So both of Barca's wins were accidents? A better finisher than Mkhitaryan would've knocked Madrid out and a better striker than Bendtner would've knocked Barca out.

Makes no sense, there's a degree of luck involved in every game. Also, maybe he's misremembering the CL final, but only 1 team deserved to win that game and that was Real Madrid. The only 'accident' in that game was Godin's goal, possibly the worst almost-winning goal I've seen.

Yeah, becuase while Atletico was playing, whole Real squad was resting on Bahama islands. They only came to play in the extra time.

That's when having depth paid off. Atletico had none, and lost Costa. And you guys had di maria on top stellar form, plus bale. I can't tell for sure what serghei meant, but back then I thought the final would be won with ease by rm, not in ET.

Im suprised anyone would think it would be easy for Real in any way. Atletico are/were an incredible team as a collective unit, they had allready given Barcelona and Real plenty of problems and they won the league. Deadly on set pieces and an incredible bus Mourinho would be proud of. I knew from the start it would be very difficult.

"You managed to make winning the CL look like an accident."

Thats rich.

You can lol all you want. You are a RM fan and I can understand that. However. Your whole season was in that corner. No matter how you try to turn it around that is it. And waiting for a corner in injury time to beat Atletico is not the mark of a great CL winner.

Real Madrid were not much better than barca and atletico last season. But they clicked when it mattered the most while the other two failed. If Atletico had more depth they could have won the double. If Tata did not give completely give up maybe we could have won la liga just maybe. Carlo is a cup coach and he proved it in his first season itself and i still make Real Madrid clear favorites for UCL along with Bayern. I would rate our chances least among chelsea, real and bayern. If luis suarez clicks we can turn the odds but UCL SL might be the most we can get this season. I hope i am wrong.

Anyway back to discussion Real deserved to win the final. They were the best team that night. The last 20 mins was hell. Chances after chances. It was bound to go in, it took time but they got what they deserve. Atletico winning would have been one hell of a story but sadly it was not meant to be.

Cristiano winning his 3rd Ballon while players like Iniesta and Xavi with none is what's wrong with this award. Completely pointless. Score more goal and win ballon d'or. Nothing else matters. It is even more sad when they say cristiano is more complete player than messi.

Madrid deserved to win the CL, but ultimately, luck played a consistent part in their triumph. Also, finnishing 3rd in the league, the most important competition, is a low point for them. They got 1/12 possible points against their two rivals in the league. So, when you say Madrid were better than Atletico last season you are talking about CL only, a 13 games competition where luck plays a big part, and neglecting La Liga, a 38 games competition where the best usually wins and luck evens out in the end. Madrid didn't made the double, League + CL, and that throws some doubt about who was the best spanish team last season: Real or Atletico. I think Atletico was.

Lol no, we were better in the cdr as well, the only time anyone actually trashed Atletico last season, but we had luck, no doubt.
