Denis Suarez

Next game he will be on bench. Guaranteed

Lucho doesn't reward good performances.

He just rotates aimlessly

He choose Gomes against City and proved to be right choice, choose Denis today and was again the right choice. He will take risks at many smaller teams trying to see what can some players do but it is far from being aimlessly

Gomes was average Vs City, it didn't prove anything

How are they gonna find consistency if they are benched after every good game.

I like both gomes and denis btw.

Was extremly bad in first half trying to set the record on most lost balls in a half.
Saved it with a good second half.

Gr8 game against tough opponent.
Think he is better in midfield when we are playing an opposition who is gonna attack us rather than parking the bus.

I was thinking the same yesterday in the 2nd half.

It seems that he isn't that good when we play at home against parked buses, he is then somewhat lost as a Cm.
But in a match like yesterday with a lot of counters and turnovers on both sides, he is much better.

Even though, he wasn't "all over the place" yesterday and he wasn't leaving a giant hole behind his back, like he used to do in majority of previous matches.
Imo, when we play against a bus, he drifts to a Lw or Rw or to a Cf too often and then we play 424 against parked buses and our midfield is somewhat lost (especially when we lose the ball and no one can collect loose balls in a midfield area).
In a match like yesterday, with lots of turnovers, he didn't have time to drift to attack or Lw too much, but instead he was running from a box to box a lot, and played much deeper, close to Busquets.
That way he didn't turn our 433 into some hybrid 424, but he kept his position in a 433, and he was quite good in that role, especially in the 2nd half, as others have mentioned.

Is that Denis's or Lucho's fault though? I think he clearly has instructions to stay more on the wings (when he plays there) and he don't move there on his own. Only player with total freedom is Messi (and Neymar to some extent), Denis and other players play where Lucho wants them. Look at the last 20 minutes of Valencia match when he Denis came in for Gomes and we started to play that 424 you mentioned and lost what little control we had before that. Gomes was playing as LCM (in Iniesta role after he got injured and Rakitic replaced him and went to his standard position) but then Denis mostly played as RM/RW. I really don't believe he'd move there on his own will. If he'd stay on the left side and move more to the wings then ok, it could be on him going out of position because he's more used to play there but no way he'd play as RM/RW if Lucho would instructed him to play LCM.

This is the reason I've preciously talked about Denis being in midfield
When he was subbed against Valencia he wasn't a midfielder, that was Messi taking Iniesta role in a more advanced way and Denis replacing him on the right side. He has done the job well IMO. against parking the bus he is a decent winger. IIRC he played a winger too against Celta but my memory might not be the best about the game
But against Granada he was clearly a midfielder and he was bad.
That is why I think that for now during his development their will be situations where he is useful (winger vs parking the bus & midfielder vs balanced teams) and trial or learning games like Granada when a team parking the bus and playing a midfielder

Problem is his frame is like Messi but not his strength. He is pushed (literally pushed) off the ball by many players which the ref doesn't take notice of. He needs to bulk up a little IMO

Just read it. Those things mean a lot to young players. Especially when it comes from their idols.

If Lucho manages to integrate Denis this season it would be a huge success knowing how hard it is to make it in Barca midfield.
